The Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, has outlined the council’s development priorities for the 2026 fiscal year at a two-day Budget Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum held across four strategic locations: Egbin Town Hall (Ward A), Reading Room on Palace Road (Ward B), Ijede Town Hall (Ward C), and Oke-Eletu Town Hall (Ward D).

Gbadebo-Alogba highlighted the council’s achievements in the 2025 budget, which achieved 100% performance.

According to the chairman, the council’s development agenda for 2026 will focus on key areas such as infrastructural development and maintenance, wealth creation through empowerment and skill acquisition, access to quality basic education, functional and equitable primary healthcare services, and tourism promotion and cultural preservation.

The Chairman noted that education remains a cornerstone of the administration, with notable achievements in expanding access, improving quality, and upgrading infrastructure across schools.

The council has completed and commissioned the Igbe Ogubro Model Primary School, renovated the Ijede Library, and distributed free JAMB forms to indigent students.

Additionally, the council carried out the repair and reconstruction of damaged fences at Luwasa Secondary School and Anwar-ul-Islam Primary School, ensuring the safety and security of pupils and staff.

The chairman mentioned the Back-to-School Pack Distribution Initiative, which continues to ease the financial burden on parents and ensures that no child in Ijede is denied education due to lack of learning materials.

The chairman also highlighted the council’s welfare and empowerment initiatives, including graduation and empowerment programs for youths and women, and the distribution of start-up kits and entrepreneurial training. These initiatives, she said, have continued to reduce unemployment, foster self-reliance, and strengthen the local economy.

In terms of infrastructure and community development, Gbadebo-Alogba noted that the council has continued to deliver on projects that directly impact daily life, including road maintenance, environmental sanitation, and community-based infrastructure. The council has also performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of additional classrooms and toilets across four government primary schools within the council area. Furthermore, the council has been constructing a new Legislative Building, which will soon be commissioned.

The chairman expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their support and cooperation, urging them to continue engaging constructively and providing feedback. She pledged to continue serving with integrity, compassion, and purpose, and called on the people of Ijede to work together to build a more prosperous, safe, and thriving community.

In her conclusion, Gbadebo-Alogba stated, “Our 100% budget performance is not just a statistic — it is a reflection of our shared commitment to progress and development. Let us continue to work hand in hand to make Ijede LCDA a model of good governance, sustainable development, and community pride.”
