
Paparazzi Football Academy delivered a spectacular performance to defeat Unizee Football Academy 6–3 in the grand finale of the AMA Smile Foundation Under-17 Unity Cup, held at the Igbogbo Ultra-Modern Stadium.
The thrilling encounter showcased exceptional teamwork, tactical discipline, and technical brilliance from the young Paparazzi side, earning them the admiration of spectators and dignitaries alike.
The highly anticipated final drew football enthusiasts, community leaders, and traditional rulers from across Ikorodu Division, all gathered to witness the culmination of the youth-focused football tournament organized by the AMA Smile Foundation. The event was designed to promote peace, unity, and community development through sports.
Among the standout performers of the tournament was Taye Samber of Paparazzi Football Academy, who emerged as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his impressive display throughout the competition. His teammate, Nozo (Jersey No. 20), also received recognition as the Best Goalkeeper, having made several crucial saves that helped his team secure victory.
Awards were presented to the winners by prominent dignitaries, including the Olubeshe of Ibeshe, Oba Richard Abayomi Ogun Sanya, and Hon. Abiodun Tobun, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency I, alongside other esteemed guests. Their presence added prestige to the event and reinforced the importance of grassroots sports development within the community.
In his address, the convener and host, Honourable Moshood Aro (Hon. AMA) — who represents Ikorodu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly — expressed heartfelt appreciation to the dignitaries, royal fathers, and residents who supported the initiative. He explained that the Unity Cup was conceived as a platform to foster togetherness among residents and encourage young people to channel their energy into positive ventures such as sports.
“Football has always been a tool for peace and progress. Seeing our people come together in joy and unity today proves that the right decision was made,” Hon. Aro said. He also extended gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his steadfast commitment to youth and sports development in Lagos State, noting that such support continues to inspire grassroots initiatives like the Unity Cup.
The grand finale concluded on a festive note, with fans, players, and community leaders celebrating the success of the tournament. Many commended the AMA Smile Foundation for its sustained efforts in promoting unity, inspiring youth participation, and driving community growth through sports across Ikorodu and beyond.
