Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) convened a broad-based stakeholders’ forum to deliberate on its proposed 2026 fiscal plan, themed the “Budget of Legacy.”

The interactive session, held at the Council Secretariat in Owutu, underscored the council’s commitment to inclusive governance and participatory budgeting that reflects the needs and aspirations of its residents.

The engagement brought together stakeholders, including traditional rulers, members of the Community Development Committee (CDC), leaders of market associations, representatives from chieftaincy affairs, the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, youth groups, and other community partners.

In his address, the Executive Chairman, Otunba Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju (SKO), expressed appreciation to the stakeholders for their active involvement in the council’s planning process.

He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance, noting that stakeholder input remains critical to achieving sustainable development.

“We will continue to uphold the principles of accountability and transparency in governance,” Otunba Olanrewaju said. “Stakeholder participation remains the cornerstone of delivering inclusive and meaningful development for our people.”



He explained that the consultation aims to prevent project duplication, enhance fiscal discipline, and ensure that public funds are directed toward projects that have the greatest community impact.

Stakeholders commended the Chairman’s developmental achievements over the past four years, particularly in infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and social welfare. They also applauded the landmark West-End Event Centre, describing it as a project that has revitalized social and economic activities across Ikorodu West.

Unveiling the 2026 “Budget of Legacy,” Otunba Olanrewaju said the fiscal plan is designed to consolidate past gains and deliver enduring projects that will benefit future generations.

The proposed budget prioritizes critical infrastructure, environmental renewal, healthcare improvement, and empowerment initiatives, while also emphasizing youth development, sports advancement, and the promotion of culture and tourism.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance, stressing that community participation is essential to effective budgeting and sustainable growth.
