The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Abdul-Lateef Adedayo Ladega, continued his administration’s 100 Days in Office Programme on 1st November 2025 with an extensive medical outreach at Methodist School, Agura. He was joined by Hon. Babawale Bisiriyu Alogba, Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government; Hon. Moshood Ajisebutu, Chief of Staff, who led other officials from the Chairman’s office; and Hon. Oladimeji Oshikoya, Councilor representing Ward G. The team delivered vital healthcare services directly to residents, demonstrating the administration’s ongoing commitment to community well-being and accessible medical care under the Enhanced Healthcare pillar of the SEED Agenda.
The outreach offered free medical checkups, screenings, consultations, eye exams, blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring, essential medications, and health counseling to hundreds of community members. Preventive healthcare was a key focus, with particular attention to senior citizens, women, and other vulnerable groups. The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) partnered with the council to provide professional support, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective healthcare services.
The programme was graced by HRM Oba Ahmed Moruf Ogunnaike, the Alagura of Agura, alongside his Chiefs, Baales, and other community stakeholders, who praised Hon. Ladega’s dedication to grassroots development and public health. Staff from the Ikorodu Local Government Primary Health Department, led by Medical Officer of Health Dr. Odesesan, facilitated the medical services, while the council’s Sanitation and Environmental Department promoted hygiene, disease prevention, and environmental health, highlighting a holistic approach to community wellness.
After the outreach, Hon. Ladega visited Agura Health Center to personally review the state of its infrastructure, guided by the Medical Officer of Health. This initiative complements the previous day’s Itoju Agba Health Insurance Card distribution, which enrolled over 300 senior citizens into the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme, ensuring both immediate medical access and long-term healthcare coverage.
The outreach reflects the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-Being – which aims to promote healthy lives and well-being for all ages. By integrating preventive care, health education, infrastructure review, and healthcare accessibility, the initiative strengthens sustainable healthcare delivery, enhances community resilience, and fosters public trust. Residents praised the outreach as compassionate, inclusive, and transformative for the community.
