The King Ogunremi Foundation has launched campaign to combat substance abuse among Nigerian youths. The initiative includes the production of a song by Oyekunle Readwon, a former substance addict who has turned his life around and is now championing the war against drug abuse.
The song’s unveiling was attended by officials from the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), who commended the foundation for its efforts. The Deputy Commander of Narcotics, Titilope Ogunluyi, emphasized the importance of community involvement in tackling substance abuse. “We need to come together as a community to tackle this menace,” she said. “Prevention is key, and we appreciate King Ogunremi Foundation for taking this initiative.”
Whodemborn Record Label officially unveiled its presence, marking a new chapter in the careers of aspiring artists. To commemorate this milestone, the label has signed talented artiste Readwon, a move that is expected to boost the artist’s music career.
The unveiling ceremony of Whodemborn Record Label was a grand affair, attracting industry stakeholders, music enthusiasts, and fans. The event highlighted the label’s commitment to nurturing talent and producing high-quality music that resonates with audiences.
The Executive Director of King Ogunremi Foundation highlighted the alarming rate of substance abuse among Nigerian youths, citing statistics from the World Health Organisation (WHO).
He emphasized the need for individual efforts to support government initiatives in addressing this issue. “We need to do more individually, not just about the government,” he said. “Let us help someone to help someone. If you and I become a mentor to these young people, we can actually change the world together.”
Readwon, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the support he has received and hope that his story would inspire others to quit substance abuse. “I feel very okay, I feel balanced, I feel fulfilled because I had been lost, and I am back,” he said. “I know if I can do it, every other person can do it too.”
The initiative aims to create awareness and promote intervention advocacy for young people, particularly with the yuletide season approaching, a period when substance abuse tends to increase. The King Ogunremi Foundation is urging Nigerians to join the fight against substance abuse and support those struggling with addiction.
