
The Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, recently hosted the leadership and members of the Greater Kosofe Students’ Union at the Local Government Secretariat for a landmark interactive session tagged “A Day with the Chairman.” On Saturday, October 25, 2025, the event brought together students from various tertiary institutions across Kosofe federal constituency, led by the President, Comrade Alao Temitope Bamidele.
providing a unique platform for young people to engage directly with the Chairman, share their ideas, express their needs, and contribute to discussions on youth development and community growth.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Ogunlewe commended the students for their commitment to education and community service. He emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue between youth and government, noting that the future of Kosofe depends largely on the active participation of young people in governance and development initiatives.
A major highlight of the program was the official unveiling of the Student Skills and Empowerment Initiative, aimed at equipping students with relevant vocational and digital skills for self-reliance. The Chairman also received a presentation from the students on a proposed Student Developmental Agenda, which outlines strategic ways to improve student welfare and educational support within the local government.
The interactive session featured an open dialogue where students discussed critical issues such as bursary support, improved access to empowerment programs, and stronger student representation in local decision-making. Hon. Ogunlewe reassured participants of his unwavering commitment to youth development, promising to sustain policies that promote education, innovation, and inclusiveness.
The event was graced by several notable personalities, including Murithada Seriki (APC Youth Leader, Lagos State); Hon. Tobi Oladejo (SSA to the Governor on Special Duties); Hon. Arayemi Habeebulahi (Chief Whip, Lagos State Youth Parliament, Kosofe 1); Comr. Balogun Habeedah (Former President, GKSU); and Comr. Alimi Lekan Idris (Immediate Past Chairman, NANS JCC Lagos), among other distinguished community and youth leaders.
The session concluded on a positive note, with participants applauding the Chairman’s openness and commitment to student engagement. The meeting was widely regarded as a productive and impactful platform that underscored the value of youth inclusion in governance and the collective potential for progress when leaders and young people work hand-in-hand.
