In a significant move towards strengthening grassroots development and educational infrastructure, Hon. Aro Abiodun Moshood, Member Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikorodu Constituency II has officially flagged off the construction of an 18-classroom block at Luwasa Secondary School, Ijede.

The foundation-laying ceremony, held within the school premises, drew a vibrant crowd comprising community leaders, old students, teachers, and residents, all gathered to witness the transformative initiative.

The event marked a major milestone for both the school and the broader Ijede community. As an alumnus of Luwasa Secondary School, Hon. Aro Abiodun Moshood emphasized the personal significance of the project. In his keynote address, he revealed that the initiative was conceived to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the school a legacy gift to his alma mater and the students who will follow in his footsteps.

He expressed his sincere appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for granting the necessary approvals to execute the project under his constituency’s development agenda. According to Hon. Aro, the new block will feature 18 fully furnished classrooms, five modern toilet facilities, and teachers’ offices all designed to provide a more conducive learning environment.

“We are not only laying the foundation of a building today,” he said, “we are building a stronger future for the children of Ijede and Ikorodu at large. This is part of our broader commitment to uplifting public education and driving development from the grassroots.”

Earlier in her welcome remarks, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, Chairman of Ijede LCDA, praised the project as a “legacy effort” that demonstrates the power of purposeful leadership and community partnership. “This is what it means to give back. We are proud of Hon. Aro and what he represents for Ijede,” she said.

Adding his voice, Hon. Saheed Adefarasin, former representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, described the initiative as a reflection of visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to education and youth development. “When we invest in schools, we invest in the future,” he remarked.

The event also featured tributes from the Luwasa Old Students’ Association, whose Secretary applauded Hon. Aro’s consistent support for the school. The Principal of Luwasa Secondary School, visibly moved, expressed profound gratitude, describing the day as “historic” and offering prayers for continued growth for both the school and the community.

The symbolic laying of the foundation stone was jointly performed by Hon. Aro Abiodun Moshood, Hon. Saheed Adefarasin, and Hon. Princess Motunrayo Alogba, amid cheers from the excited crowd. The trio mixed cement and laid the first set of blocks, officially kickstarting the construction phase of the project.

A memorable highlight came when the Horizon Community Development Association (CDA), Igbo, presented a gift to Hon. Aro in appreciation of his unwavering support and visible impact within the community. The gesture, warmly received, added a heartfelt layer to the celebratory atmosphere.

Once completed, the 18-classroom project is expected to significantly reduce overcrowding, enhance the learning experience, and stand as a symbol of what focused representation and community collaboration can achieve.
