Since its establishment in 2018, the King Ogunremi Foundation, a UK-registered charitable, non-profit organisation, has been making a significant impact in Nigeria and the United Kingdom through its innovative programmes focused on youth empowerment, community welfare, and social development.

Founded by Mr. King Ogunremi — a UK-based Youth Practitioner, Master Barber, and Community Leader — the foundation is driven by a commitment to support vulnerable groups, including underprivileged youths, elderly widows, children, and local barbers. At its core, the foundation aims to provide vocational training, free services, and access to essential social support systems.

One of the Foundation’s most impactful initiatives is the Kings Barbers Connect Nigeria (KBCN), a programme that organises free haircut drives during major public events such as Back to School, Ramadan, Eid-ul-Adha, Easter, Independence Day, Christmas, New Year, and Children’s Day. These events are hosted across communities in Lagos and beyond — including Okokomaiko, Ejigbo, Makoko, Ibeshe Ikorodu, Itire, Aguda, Agege, Badagry, Bariga, Ajah, Mushin, Ikate, Ijeshatedo, and extending into Ogun, Osun, and Ondo States.

In addition to providing thousands of free haircuts annually, KBCN also issues sponsorship vouchers to support local barbers, helping them sustain and grow their businesses within underserved communities.

The foundation also runs the Widows Assist Program (WAP), which delivers monthly stipends, healthcare services, palliative aid, and primary health interventions to widows and vulnerable women. The programme currently operates in Itire, Ijeshatedo, Aguda, Lawanson, Ikate, and Mushin, providing a lifeline to women often left out of mainstream welfare systems.

Beyond its direct service delivery, the King Ogunremi Foundation adopts a holistic approach to development, integrating skill acquisition — particularly in barbering — with health outreach, education, and social welfare programmes. Its reach has expanded into the UK, where it collaborates with local councils and organisations such as Newham Council, Peoples Powered Places, Newham College, Hair Cycle, Barb N Engage, The Barber Connect Project Ltd UK, King’s Place Barbershop UK, and Zeta Homes UK.

“Our vision is to help people discover their purpose, grow sustainably, and live dignified lives using their skills and the strength of community,” said Mr. King Ogunremi. “We believe real change starts from the grassroots, and by investing in people, we can foster lasting transformation.”

Guided by values of compassion, empowerment, and community collaboration, the King Ogunremi Foundation continues to set a strong example of how targeted social investment and vocational empowerment can uplift entire communities.
