The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and reducing the financial burden on parents with children in public schools.

Speaking during the distribution of free exercise books to pupils, Hon. Sulaimon announced that four public schools benefited from the initiative today. These include Ipakodo Primary School, Majidun Primary School, C&S Primary School 1, and C&S Primary School 2, and 5 more Primary schools to go. The event is part of a larger effort that will see 70,000 exercise books distributed to 7,000 pupils across nine public schools, with each child receiving 10 books.

He urged parents to take an active role in their children’s education. “My message to the parents: they should encourage their kids to be educated. That is the only way forward for their benefit, for their peace of mind, and for their future.”

Hon. Sulaimon also highlighted that education must go beyond obtaining certificates. “We’re not just talking about students going to school. We are talking about real education they must be truly educated, not just holders of certificates.”

Looking ahead, the Chairman revealed ambitious plans for the LCDA’s education sector. “By God’s grace, we are going to build a school. The vocational center is starting anytime from now, and hopefully, by next year, it will be completed,” he stated. “We are also planning another major project next year something big and unexpected, coming from Ikorodu division. That’s just a hint; we are working on it.”

He concluded by assuring residents that education will continue to be a top priority of his administration, with more initiatives aimed at empowering pupils and supporting their academic journey.
