
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the resumption of passenger train services on the Abuja-Kaduna corridor, effective October 1, 2025. The commercial service will recommence after the successful completion of all required safety, technical, and operational checks.
The NRC has prioritized passenger welfare, particularly in light of the August 26, 2025, incident. Out of 583 passengers on board, 530 were contacted by phone, and 512 have successfully received refunds.
Additionally, 22 injured passengers have been contacted and will enjoy one free ride per week until December 31, 2025. All 618 people on board during the accident will be entitled to one free ride before December 31, 2025.
The timetable for the Abuja-Kaduna train service is as follows:
Abuja to Kaduna:
– Departure from Abuja IDU: 8:45 am
– Arrival at Kubwa: 9:05 am
– Arrival at Rigassa: 12:42 pm
– Arrival at Kaduna
Kaduna to Abuja:
– Departure from Rigassa: 2:30 pm
– Arrival at Kubwa: 6:02 pm
– Arrival at Abuja IDU: 6:23 pm
The NRC has scheduled every Wednesday for maintenance on the Abuja-Kaduna route. The corporation appreciates the patience and understanding of passengers during the suspension period and reaffirms its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and customer-friendly train transportation alternatives.
