The Philips Olubunmi Emmanuel Foundation (POE Foundation), in collaboration with Unifyah Uplifting Futures from the UK, made a positive impact in the Makoko community on Saturday, 13th of September, through its multifaceted initiatives. By providing essential support and services, the foundation improved the quality of life for residents and empowered the community for a brighter future. Some of the key initiatives included free medical outreach, palliative distribution of foodstuff and cash, distribution of sanitary pads, provision of free wheelchairs, free clothing, among others.
According to Olufunmi Adebayo, a volunteer for the foundation, the program aims to provide essential services and support to those in need.
Adebayo noted that the foundation’s efforts include free medical check-ups, distribution of anti-malaria drugs, foodstuff, cash support, and sanitary pads for teenagers. The outreach program has also featured free medical tests, such as sugar and glucose level checks, as well as distribution of free clothing, crutches and wheelchairs to those who require them.
The foundation has also been awarding scholarships and cash prizes to deserving individuals, Adebayo stated. She emphasized the importance of community service and the need for continued support, highlighting the foundation’s commitment to bridging gaps in government support and making a positive difference in people’s lives.

Adebayo further outlined the foundation’s plans to continue its outreach efforts, including visits to schools and communities on Mondays to provide further assistance. The initiative has been well-received by the community, with many residents expressing gratitude for the support.
