The BAT 2027 Network (UK Chapter) has strongly rejected recent remarks attributed to Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, suggesting that efforts to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu represent a national consensus rather than a northern conspiracy. According to Hamzat Jimoh Esq., Convener of the BAT 2027 Network (UK Chapter), Tambuwal’s assertion is a personal projection and a misrepresentation of the political reality.
Hamzat Jimoh emphasized that Nigerians overwhelmingly endorsed President Tinubu in the 2023 elections, placing their trust in his Renewed Hope Agenda. This mandate, he said, was a clear rejection of the opposition party, which after 24 years in power, left Nigeria grappling with economic stagnation and institutional decay.
President Tinubu has initiated bold reforms that have earned commendation from global financial institutions, including the World Bank and the IMF. According to Hamzat Jimoh, these reforms include mobilizing sustainable resources to drive infrastructure development and economic recovery. The President has also removed fuel subsidies and implemented strategic interventions to cushion its impact, such as the ₦200 billion SME loan fund via the Bank of Industry, the ₦1.5 trillion recapitalization of the Bank of Agriculture, and the clearance of a $7 billion forex backlog.
Additionally, over 104 Billion Naira has been disbursed as student loans to about six hundred thousand students across Nigeria. The unprecedented rise of Nigeria’s FX reserves to $41 Billion and the over 1000 km of newly built railway tracks reflect a government committed to rescuing Nigeria from the brink of collapse.
According to Hamzat Jimoh, there is no national consensus to unseat the president. Instead, there is growing support for President Tinubu’s transformative agenda. He urged Tambuwal to redirect his energy toward resolving the internal crises plaguing his party, the PDP, rather than engaging in distractions and campaigns of calumny.
President Tinubu, Hamzat Jimoh said, remains focused on delivering results and will not be drawn into premature political debates about the 2027 elections. When the time comes, President Tinubu will proudly present his scorecard to the Nigerian people—one built on reform, resilience, and renewed hope. Until then, he remains committed to reshaping Nigeria’s future, undeterred by political theatrics.
