
The Honourable Member representing Somolu Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Abimbola Orekoya, has demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of his constituents by convening a well-attended Stakeholders’ Meeting. The event, themed “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” took place at the Somolu Banquet Hall in the Council Secretariat.
During the meeting, Hon. Orekoya reviewed his stewardship since 2023, highlighting efforts to facilitate infrastructure projects across Somolu. He also announced the ongoing construction of a modern sports facility to promote youth development and community wellness.
A key aspect of the event was the announcement of bursary awards to 147 students. Notably, three exceptional students who are expected to graduate with first-class honors will receive full-time scholarships. This initiative reflects Hon. Orekoya’s commitment to education and youth empowerment.
The scholarship award is a significant boost to the students, and it is expected to motivate others to work hard and strive for academic excellence. Hon. Orekoya’s dedication to the welfare of his constituents is evident in his efforts to support education and youth development in Somolu.
Other notable attendees included the Council Chairman, Hon. Ashimi Lateef, who praised Hon. Orekoya’s stewardship, and Senator Anthony Adefuye, who commended the lawmaker’s efforts and encouraged stakeholders to contribute to the community’s growth.
The meeting also featured remarks from the Lagos State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Seun Osiyemi, who discussed initiatives supporting grassroots development across Somolu and Bariga.
Also speaking, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu (Dullar) welcomed all stakeholders to the meeting and lauded Hon. Orekoya’s dedication to service. He stressed the importance of ensuring that Somolu continues to witness greater development without hindrance, assuring the gathering of his unwavering support.
The gathering was further enriched by the presence of the Former Sole Administrator of Somolu, Hon. Williams Lawanson, who commended the host and other leaders for their giant strides so far.
The programme was graced by public figures, party leaders, market leaders, religious leaders, CDC and CDA executives, youths, and other important personalities in the community, who all lent their voices to the discussions and applauded the lawmaker’s initiatives.
It is noteworthy that this Stakeholders’ Meeting was held simultaneously across all 40 constituencies in Lagos State, serving as a vital platform for feedback, dialogue, and collective requests from citizens toward addressing their needs and aspirations.
