
Prince Abdul-Lateef Adedayo Ladega has reaffirmed his commitment to Youth Development and making Ikorodu a City where residents can invest and thrive. During a Fireside Chat with the youths on August 30, 2025, in commemoration of the 2025 International Youth Day, organized by the Nigerian Youth Council (NYCN) Lagos East Senatorial District.
Prince Ladega emphasized his commitment to supporting the youth and encouraging them to take an active role in the development of the community. He highlighted vocational skills training as a priority for his administration and outlined the steps taken so far. According to him, his administration has visited the vocational center, painted it, and is collaborating with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to equip it with necessary equipment. This initiative aims to provide youths with practical skills that can enhance their employability and entrepreneurial prospects.
The Executive Chairman also discussed his administration’s plans for waste management, emphasizing the importance of a cleaner and more sanitary environment in Ikorodu. He stated that his administration would launch programs to promote waste management and encourage community participation, with an open-door policy for individuals and waste management experts to provide feedback. He also mentioned that his administration is ready to listen to every review from the people and that feedback from the people will be crucial in shaping the policies of his administration.
Prince Ladega further highlighted his administration’s initiatives, including providing free GCE forms for students and free coaching classes. He expressed his willingness to work with the Youth Council, encouraging them to come up with well-meaning programs and including them in government activities. He believes that leadership is a skill that can be learned and that his administration is ready to support the youth in developing their leadership skills.
Prince Ladega’s vision for Ikorodu is to make it a city where residents can invest and thrive. He believes that with collective effort, Ikorodu can become a model for development in the region, especially with the development of the fourth mainland bridge. He concluded by stating his desire to be remembered for a good legacy, through good governance for the people of Ikorodu.
The event drew notable dignitaries, including Engr. Olalekan Adigun, the State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, Comrade Olalekan Biliaminu, SSA to the Governor on Social Development; Barr. Luqman Akisanya (PEPC); Prince Adekunle Bada; Comr. Asoro Abubakari, the Convener; Hon. Azeez Olosugbo; Prince Muyideen Olatunji Yusuf; Comr. Olorunbe Islamiat, the newly Elected Coordinator of Ikorodu Local Branch; other coordinators of local branches and youth bodies.
