Hon. Wasiu Babatunde Shotomiwa, Leader of the House and Councillor representing Ward D, Ikorodu Local Government, hosted a stakeholders meeting to engage with the community on their concerns and appreciate them for their votes during the last Local Government. The meeting aimed to listen to the specific needs of the constituents and reassure them of the commitment to them, and the led Administration of Prince Abdullateef Adedayo Ladega, to secure prosperity for all.

During the meeting, Hon. Shotomiwa relayed his activities over the last month and highlighted the importance of the stakeholders meeting in enabling him to put forth policies and facilitate initiatives that will have a direct impact on the people of Ward D and Ikorodu Local Government as a whole.

He emphasized that the meeting would be held periodically to ensure continuous engagement with the community. This initiative demonstrates his dedication to understanding the needs of his constituents and working tirelessly to address them.

The Councillor also used the opportunity to urge residents who had not yet registered for a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) to do so, bringing the registration process to their doorstep to reduce the stress associated with it. He stressed the importance of PVC in the upcoming 2027 general election, particularly in their bid for Ikorodu to have a Governor. “The 2027 general election is around the corner, and we are clamouring for Ikorodu for Governor. It is PVC that will speak for us and consolidate our voice,” he said.

Hon. Shotomiwa expressed appreciation for the work being done by Senator Abiru, Rep. Babajimi Benson, and Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye for the benefit of Ikorodu. He specifically highlighted the recent initiative by Rep. Babajimi Benson to commence work on the Kokoro Abu road, saying, “Once again, we appreciate him for the fantastic work he’s doing.”

The meeting also featured representatives from the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), who enlightened the community on the scheme’s ability to provide financial support and job opportunities to residents of Lagos State. The representatives explained the various programs and initiatives offered by LSETF, including low-interest loans and skills development training. This initiative aims to empower residents with the necessary skills and resources to start and grow their businesses, thereby contributing to the economic growth of the community.

Additionally, a representative from the Lagos State Operations Coordinating Unit (LASOCU) explained the modalities of how the agency gathers resident information to provide support through the Community Development Associations (CDAs). The representative highlighted the importance of CDAs in facilitating community development and providing a platform for residents to access government services and support. This partnership between LASOCU and CDAs demonstrates the government’s commitment to engaging with the community and addressing their needs.

The stakeholders meeting was well-attended by Party Leaders, CDAs, stakeholders, and residents, demonstrating the community’s commitment to working together to address their concerns and promote development in Ward D and Ikorodu Local Government as a whole. The meeting provided a platform for residents to engage with their leaders, access important information, and contribute to the decision-making process. As such, it was a resounding success, and Hon. Shotomiwa’s efforts to engage with his constituents are commendable.
