The family, friends, and associates of the late Alhaji Saheed Kolawole Akinsanya (Baba Pep) the Atunluse of Magbon Alade Land gathered on Saturday, August 23, 2025, to celebrate his life and legacy. Alhaji Akinsanya, a retired senior police officer (An Incocuptible officer), sports administrator, and community developer, left an indelible mark on the lives of those around him.

Alhaji Ramoni Akanni Fuji musician popularly known as RK1, thrilled the audience with his melodious songs.

Alhaja Sekinat Akinsanya, the wife of the late Alhaji Saheed Akinsanya, described her husband as a great man who always looked out for people around him. She extended her profound gratitude to those who honored them, appreciating family members, friends, and well-wishers for their support.

Barr. Luqman Akisanya, the founder of Pepc Foundation and son of the late Alhaji Akinsanya, spoke about his father’s impact on his life and the community. He described his father as a role model, mentor, good leader, and community builder. Barr. Akisanya revealed that in his father’s memory, they launched a 33,000-liter solar-powered borehole in Magbo Alade, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, where his father was born. This project will serve as a lasting legacy, ensuring his memory lives on.



Barr. Akisanya also mentioned that they distributed over 5,000 palliatives in Ikorodu, Ibeju, and other parts of Lagos in his father’s name in December, and they plan to continue this initiative annually. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate his father’s life and pledged to continue his father’s work. He further stated, “My dad has been a role model, a mentor, a good leader, a community builder, he’s the Atunluse of Magbon Alade land. But since his demise, definitely the mantle has to fall on someone. And it has fallen on these children, which I’m one of them.”

Alhaji Akinsanya was a multifaceted individual who made significant contributions to various fields. He was the President of the Grassroots Sports Development Association, Ikorodu, former Vice Chairman of the Ikorodu Divisional Football Association, and Coordinator of the Safety First Initiative. He also served as a member of the Customary Court between August 2015 and October 2020 and held advisory roles on security matters in Ikorodu and Ibeju-Lekki.

During his service in the Nigerian Police Force, Akinsanya demonstrated discipline, commitment, and dedication to duty. He served as Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) at Owutu and Imota Police Stations and acting Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Ikorodu Divisional Police Headquarters. Notably, he was known for his integrity and refusal to accept bribes.

Akinsanya’s passion for youth development led him to form a football team, Akinsanya Babes, in 1989. He assembled young guys and trained them at his police quarters, recognizing the importance of engaging youth in positive activities to prevent crime and promote peace and harmony in society.

The celebration was attended by prominent dignitaries, including HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom; Oba Sikrullahi Alade Ogunlana, of Magbon Alade; Hon. Oladele Ajayi, Member Lagos House of Assembly, Ibeju-Lekki 2; Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, Chairman Ijede LCDA; and Hon. Babawale Bisiriyu Alogba, Vice Chairman Ikorodu Local Government, Mrs Sanwoola, Hon. Salau Rukayat Ajibike, traditional leaders, community leaders, business tycoons, friends, among others.
