Dr. Deola Banjo, the immediate past Chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), continued his thank-you visits to key stakeholders in Ikorodu Division. He paid courtesy visits to Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom Oba Abdulkabir Adewale Shotobi, and Senator Adeseye Kingsley Ogunlewe Member GAC Lagos State on August 20th, 2025.

During his visit to Senator Ogunlewe, Dr. Banjo expressed gratitude for the senator’s guidance and support throughout his tenure, acknowledging the senator’s role as a pillar of strength and wisdom in his leadership. He emphasized the importance of loyalty and wisdom in leadership, highlighting that true achievement lies not in titles or offices, but in serving with integrity and leaving a lasting legacy.

At the Kabiyesi palace, Dr. Banjo praised the monarch’s leadership and legacy, describing him as a custodian of tradition and a guardian of dignity. He noted that the monarch’s influence had had a profound impact on his life and leadership, and reaffirmed his dedication to the Edge Rate spirit, which emphasizes resilience, resourcefulness, and readiness in service. Dr. Banjo also bowed his head in reverence, recognizing the monarch as the bridge between their yesterday and tomorrow, a king whose presence gathers the wisdom of the past and pours it into the thirst of the present.

Oba Shotobi commended Dr. Banjo for his sense of vision and commitment to the growth of Ikorodu. He noted that Dr. Banjo’s legacy in Ikorodu North LCDA is evident and that he has built a political arena for himself. Oba Shotobi expressed his support for Dr. Banjo’s future endeavors and prayed for the emergence of the next Governor from Ikorodu, stating that he had been a great advocate for this from the beginning and believed it would be achieved by God’s grace.

He also mentioned that Dr. Banjo’s presentation was not the first he would be making to him and that their history is paramount in Ikorodu. He further noted that Banjo’s contributions to the growth of Ikorodu North LCDA were evident, citing in particular the construction of a modern legislative chamber, which he had the privilege of commissioning. He expressed confidence that the edifice, along with other projects initiated under Banjo’s leadership, would stand as enduring legacies of his administration. Oba Shotobi thanked Dr. Banjo’s entourage and encouraged them not to leave him, as he would continue to wax stronger.

Ashipa Kaoli Olusanya, the Former Vice Chairman APC Lagos State, praised Dr. Banjo for starting and ending his tenure well, without any issues with EFCC. He mentioned that the monarch’s book had outlined a vision for Ikorodu in 2052 and suggested that Dr. Banjo and others should start working towards achieving that vision. He expressed optimism that Dr. Banjo would be part of the effort to achieve that vision and deliver it well for the next generation.

Present in the company of Oba Ayangburen were His Royal Highness, the Olumushin of Mushin Oba Bamgbose, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, DPO of Ikorodu, Igbogbo road Police Station, the Olotu Ebi of Lasunwon Royal Family.

Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, GAC member Lagos state, praised Dr. Banjo, stating that he was not surprised by his achievements because he had learned valuable lessons from home. The senator noted that Dr. Banjo’s achievements in Ikorodu North LCDA were not surprising, given his commitment to serving the people and taking care of their welfare. The senator prayed for Dr. Banjo’s continued success, expressing his hope that Almighty would uplift him beyond his expectations.

Senator Ogunlewe presented Dr. Banjo with the Award of Recognition on behalf of TMM Ikorodu Division, honoring his outstanding achievements in office.

Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Adebimpe Akinsola former Lagos House of Assembly member commended Banjo that he stood out with his sense of humility which she had known him for since his time as Executive Secretary of Ikorodu North LCDA, and his impressive performance as Chairman of the council. She also commended him for setting a pace which others will emulate – showing sense of appreciation to their leaders and supporters after office.

He also met some notable members of the TMM Ikorodu division when visiting the Senator and that includes Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, Hon. Iyiola Abiodun, Hon. Bashiru Dangote, all the TMM Coordinators across the Division, and a host of others

He was accompanied by some appointees who, at different times during his almost 10 years of service to Ikorodu North LCDA, worked closely with him. They include: Mrs. Lydia Agoro – former Supervisor for Education in his first term; the immediate past SLG of Ikorodu North LCDA, Prince Niyi Odugbesi; the immediate past Chief of Staff, Mr. Abiodun Banjo; the immediate past two-term Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Ayo Adekoya; the immediate past Majority Leader of the House – Hon. Aderoju Ashally; the immediate past Councillor representing Ward E2 – Hon. Olakanmi Sheriff Tijani; the immediate past Supervisor for Works – Hon. Ambali Adeleke; the immediate past Supervisor for Women Affairs & Poverty Alleviation – Hon. Basirat Babatunde-Adewunmi; the former Deputy Executive Secretary and Woman Leader of Ikorodu North LCDA; the CSO of Ikorodu North LCDA – Mr. Kehinde Azeez; all the Women Leader for the 5 wards across Ikorodu North LCDA; Mr. Babatunde Amakaiye Olowu; Mr. Michael Newman, and other well-wishers.
