In a bid to restore order and cleanliness in Festac Town, Prince Lanre Sanusi, the Executive Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, led an enforcement exercise across Festac Town. The exercise, which commenced early in the morning, was carried out alongside with key agencies including LASTMA, KAI, the Nigeria Police Force, LAWMA, Lagos State Environmental Taskforce, and the Amuwo-Odofin Environmental Taskforce.

During the operation, the team cleared illegal structures, roadside shanties, and indiscriminate parking on pedestrian walkways after a four-time warning across key areas of Festac Town, including 1st and 2nd Avenues, 22 Road, and 41 Road. Vehicles obstructing free movement were also impounded in line with existing environmental and traffic laws.



The Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Prince Lanre Sanusi stated that the initiative is in line with the vision of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which emphasizes environmental cleanliness. He noted that during their campaign, the people of Amuwo Odofin identified two major concerns: the poor state of roads and environmental dirtiness.

According to him, about 99.9% of the requests and yearnings of the people and residents of Amuwo Odofin were centered on these two issues.

The Chairman highlighted some of the issues affecting the area, including the problem of unregistered and unaccountable security personnel. He explained that some security personnel in Festac Town were hired without proper background checks, which had led to security challenges. He also mentioned that the theft of manhole covers was a significant problem in the area.

To address these issues, Prince Sanusi announced plans to register and uniform security personnel in Festac Town. He explained that the local government would pay the security personnel and be reimbursed by business owners in the area. This, he said, would ensure that the security personnel are accountable and effective in maintaining peace and order in the area.

The Chairman expressed determination to bring back the glory of Festac Town, which was once considered one of the best estates in West Africa. He thanked President Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor, The Party Chairman, and the great leaders of Amuwo Odofin for the opportunity to serve the great people of Amuwo Odofin.

Prince Sanusi noted that the feedback from the people has been positive, with many expressing happiness and appreciation for the initiative. He urged the people to continue to cooperate with the local government and promised that more would be done in the next four years to improve the area.

Residents of Festac Community commended the swift action taken by the Chairman, During the operation, many residents stopped by to expressed their appreciation for the initiative, praising the Chairman for bringing much-needed sanity to their community.
