… As Basirat Kehinde emerge as the Leader of the House

The Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, formally inaugurated and performed the proclamation of the 6th Legislative Arm of the Council at a ceremony held at the Council’s Legislative chamber today, thursday, July 31st, 2025.

This inauguration marks the constitution of the 6th Legislative Council and a significant step in the Council’s ongoing efforts to strengthen democratic governance and promote inclusive grassroots development across Ijede LCDA.

During the inaugural session, leadership elections were held, resulting in the emergence of the following principal officers:
1. Hon. Basirat Kehinde (Ward A) – Leader of the House
2. Hon. Saka Nurudeen (Ward C) – Deputy Leader
3. Hon. Mustapha Agbabiaka (Ward B) – Majority Leader
4. Hon. Temilade Akinyemi (Ward D) – Chief Whip

In her address, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba thanked all community leaders and further charged the newly sworn-in councillors to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and offer quality representation to the people they serve. ’I congratulate you all elected councilors. I implore you to uphold the rule of law and work collectively toward the development of our council area, she stated.

Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated councillors, Hon. Basirat Kehinde, the new Leader of the House, expressed gratitude to the council leadership and the Party for the opportunity to serve.  ‘I pledge to work closely with my colleagues to enact impactful by-laws that will enhance the well-being of the people of Ijede LCDA, she stated.
