In a bold and impactful move to uplift lives and foster sustainable empowerment, Harvesters International Christian Centre, Ikorodu has successfully concluded a Free Skills Acquisition Program targeted at residents of Ikorodu and its environs.

The program, which attracted over hundreds of participants, was designed to equip individuals particularly youth, women, and budding entrepreneurs with practical, income-generating skills that can help them build better financial futures and reduce dependency.

A Hub of Transformation held at the church’s Ikorodu Campus in partnership with Peakstone Event Centre, the program featured hands-on training in high-demand vocational and digital skills, including:

Baking & Pastries
Makeup Artistry & Gele Tying
Shoe Making
Wig Making & Revamping
Soap, Detergent & Toilet Cleaner Production
Mobile Videography
Digital Marketing
Graphics Design
Each participant received personalized mentorship, access to real-time practice, and insights into how to monetize their craft effectively.

The sessions were facilitated by seasoned professionals and industry practitioners who generously volunteered their time and knowledge.

According to the Campus Pastor, the initiative reflects the church’s broader mission: to not only preach the gospel but to be a tangible expression of God’s love through community development and empowerment.

“At Harvesters, we believe that spiritual growth must go hand in hand with personal development. This outreach is our way of helping people discover and develop skills that will change their stories,” said Pastor Smart Mamudu.

Participants expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity. Many of them shared that they had always desired to learn one skill or the other but lacked the financial capacity. For them, this initiative provided a life-changing moment.

A participant in the graphics design class shared, “I have always wanted to learn design but couldn’t afford it. This program has opened doors for me, and I’m ready to start freelancing immediately.”

Harvesters Ikorodu continues to distinguish itself as a beacon of hope, compassion, and transformation in the community. The church plans to hold follow-up mentorships and provide additional resources to help participants transition from training to income generation.

This Skills Acquisition Program is just one of many outreach initiatives the church has implemented, reaffirming its role not only as a house of worship but also as a center for holistic development.
