… Abosede Benson Emerged as the Leader of the House.

Hon. Ameen Olawale Apanishile assumed office as the Mayor of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) following the handing over by the Immediate Past Chairman of the LCDA, Dr. Deola Banjo. In his inaugural address on July 28, 2025, Mayor Apanishile outlined his vision for the LCDA and highlighted key projects set to commence in the coming months.
The projects, facilitated by Rep. Babajimi Benson, Member of the House of Representatives, include road construction and renovation works, such as the Ita Oluwo to Agbede, Radio to Erunwen, and Adamo/Araro roads. Additionally, Rep. Benson has pledged to complete the Lucky Fiber project and renovate Olorunda Secondary School. According to Mayor Apanishile, these projects are expected to be completed by December.
He expressed his gratitude to Rep. Babajimi Benson for his unwavering support to Ikorodu North LCDA.
He also acknowledged the support of Water Aid, a non-governmental organization (NGO) that has been partnering with the LCDA for three years. The NGO has completed 66 projects and has 15 ongoing projects in the LCDA. Mayor Apanishile expressed his appreciation for the partnership and thanked Water Aid for their contributions to the development of Ikorodu North LCDA.
The Mayor urged party members and stakeholders to continue working together to drive progress and development in the LCDA. He encouraged everyone to share their thoughts and insights to achieve excellence and promote the party’s vision. With these new projects and partnerships, Ikorodu North LCDA is poised for significant growth and development in the coming months.
Earlier after his handing over, Dr. Deola Banjo, the immediate past Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, reflected on his almost decade-long tenure in office, marked by significant transformations and developments in the local council. He expressed his gratitude to the people of Ikorodu North LCDA for entrusting him with leadership responsibilities.
During his tenure, Dr. Banjo oversaw the construction of roads across all five political wards, refurbishment of primary schools and health centers, empowerment programs for women and youth, and the establishment of a sound administrative system. He emphasized that his leadership was guided by the principle of service, and that the council’s engagement with traditional institutions, religious leaders, market men and women, community development associations, youth bodies, and civil servants created a culture of unity.
As Dr. Banjo handed over the reins of leadership to Hon. Ameen Olawale Apanishile, he offered words of wisdom, urging his successor to lead with compassion, listen with humility, and serve with the fear of God.
He emphasized that he was leaving behind a legacy of service above self and a system strengthened by his tenure. Despite stepping down, Dr. Banjo reiterated his commitment to Ikorodu North LCDA, stating that he would forever be a son, servant, and champion of the local council.
Hon. Mathew Alliu Adesanya, the Vice Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA emphasized that his primary duty is to support the Chairman in implementing developmental projects that will move Ikorodu North LCDA forward.
Hon. Adesanya outlined key areas of focus for the administration, including developmental projects, empowerment of youth and women, healthcare delivery, education, road construction, and market development. He assured residents that the Chairman and himself have mapped out programs to deliver these initiatives, which will be implemented in a phased manner.
The Vice Chairman urged residents to pay their dues, emphasizing that the funds generated will be used to implement developmental projects. He promised that the administration will be accountable to the people and return value to them through the implementation of these projects. Hon. Adesanya also called on residents to support the administration’s efforts to make Ikorodu North LCDA a peaceful and prosperous area for all.
Following her emergence as the Leader of the House, In her inaugural remarks, Hon. Abosede Benson expressed her gratitude to God for the privilege and honor bestowed upon her. She thanked her colleagues for electing her to the position and pledged to work diligently to meet their expectations.
Hon. Benson acknowledged the support of leaders and colleagues, emphasizing her commitment to her new role, in supporting the Chairman and Ikorodu North LCDA as a whole.
