As Prince Muyideen Olatunji Yusuf concludes his tenure as Supervisor for Agriculture, Social Development & Chieftaincy Affairs in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), he looks back on a legacy of impactful service and numerous achievements. In a heartfelt farewell message, Prince Yusuf expressed his gratitude to the people of Ikorodu West LCDA, his colleagues, and mentors for their support during his time in office.

From Activism to Office: A Journey of Perseverance

Prince Yusuf’s journey into public service began with his activism in the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN). His dedication and leadership skills earned him recognition, and in 2022, he transitioned into a Political Office Holder, becoming one of the youngest individuals appointed as Supervisor for Agriculture in Lagos State. This appointment was made possible through the recommendation of the APC Apex Leaders in Ikorodu West LCDA, led by Prince Adio Jamiu Saka.

Throughout his 15-year tenure in community service, Prince Yusuf has received several awards and recognitions for his contributions. These include the Ikorodu Man of the Year (Promising Youth Award) in 2018 and the Community Builder of the Year Award in 2024. As Supervisor, he worked tirelessly to strengthen synergy between the council and traditional institutions, engaging deeply with royal fathers and grassroots structures.

Prince Yusuf proposed and drafted a 10-year development blueprint for Ikorodu West LCDA, which underscores his commitment to long-term planning and development. He strengthened stakeholder engagement regarding the welfare of traditional rulers and CDCs, and improved the welfare of Baales and Chiefs by reviewing and increasing their stipends twice in three years. He also documented and recognised Part II and III Baales and Chiefs. Additionally, Prince Yusuf attended and supervised over 70% of Chieftaincy monthly meetings across the LCDA, and participated actively in statewide agricultural programs and State Supervisors for Agriculture and Chieftaincy Affairs meetings.

Furthermore, he attended over 30% of CDC monthly general meetings, representing the Chairman, and facilitated federal cash transfers for ward members. Prince Yusuf also distributed free JAMB forms to indigent students yearly, donated food items to over 200 people annually in the ward, and facilitated fertiliser distribution and supported the inauguration of farmers’ associations. Moreover, he facilitated state empowerment support for five indigent parents via SUBEB, and recommended and secured internship and job placements for numerous youths and students.

As Prince Yusuf concludes his tenure, he expresses his gratitude to his mentors, colleagues, and the people of Ikorodu West LCDA for their support. He extends special appreciation to Otunba Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju (SKO), for trusting him with critical responsibilities, and to his colleagues in the Executive Cabinet for their unwavering support.

Prince Yusuf also expresses his gratitude to Mayor Deen O. Sanwoola, his mentor, for firm guidance and timely corrections, and to Builder Olusesan Daini, immediate past Chairman, Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, for unmatched mentorship. He further appreciates Kabiyesi, the Olu of Agboyi Kingdom, his royal father and employer, for patience, wisdom, and support.

Additionally, Prince Yusuf thanks Mrs. Bisola Olusanya Kaoli, Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, for steadfast encouragement, and Prof. Abiodun Abatan, Otunba Bayo Lawson, Baba Badmos, Hon. Sesan Dada, and all APC Ward “B” leaders and exco members for their confidence in him. He also appreciates the Royal Fathers of Ikorodu West LCDA, especially the Sekumade-in-Council led by Oba Bashir Aremu Shotowa, and the Baale-in-Council under Chief O. Aluko, for their royal support.

Special thanks also go to the CDC and CDAs for their cooperation and dedication to community development, and to Hon. Babajimi Benson (James Bond), Chairman, House Committee on Defence, for believing in him and caring for his well-being. Finally, Prince Yusuf expresses his sincere gratitude to his campaign and loyal team, _Team Itesiwaju_, for their relentless commitment and belief in their shared journey.

With humility and honour, Prince Yusuf says, “The journey continues.”
