Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commissioned several legacy projects in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), built by the administration of Mayor Dele Oshinowo. The projects include the Otunba Bushura Alebiosu Multipurpose Building, Agboyi Community Primary School, Agboyi Ketu ICT Hub, Oba Taiwo Adesegun Lamina Sport Centre, and a network of four roads.

During the commissioning ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Mayor Oshinowo for delivering dividends of democracy to people at the grassroots. He emphasized that his administration would continue to support the council in carrying out impactful projects, noting that the 57 councils in Lagos State enjoy full autonomy from the State Government. “As we formally commission these initiatives, let this achievement resound across every corner of Lagos; this administration’s work is ongoing and relentless,” he said.

The Governor urged incoming administrations to build on the progress made by their predecessors. “From Bariga to Badagry, from Ikorodu to Epe, we are steadfastly building a Lagos that delivers and a Lagos that works for all its people,” he said. He also encouraged residents to protect and maintain public facilities, assuring them of continued government investment in their community.

Mayor Oshinowo, in his welcome address, reflected on the journey of transformation that has taken place in Agboyi-Ketu under his leadership. “Today is also a day marked by both pride and nostalgia,” he said. “Pride because we are once again gathered to commission an array of live transforming projects because this movement also draws a curtain on a journey, a journey of passion, a journey of wisdom, of struggle, and of undeniable progress.”

The Mayor highlighted the council’s achievements, noting that when they assumed office in 2017, Agboyi-Ketu was a council full of potential, yet still striving to fully come into its own. “Eight years later, we did not only place Agboyi-Ketu on the map, we etched it into the conscience of the states and nation,” he said. “Today, no conversation about local governance in Nigeria is complete without referencing Agboyi-Ketu LCDA. We have become the blueprint not by mere words, but by work, by will, and by results.”

Mayor Oshinowo expressed pride in the legacy they are leaving behind, saying, “We are not just handing over stories, we are handing over legacies.” He also highlighted the various projects commissioned during his tenure, including the Otunba Bushura Alebiosu Multipurpose Building and 5.7 kilometers of constructed roads across Ketu, Alapere, Mile 12, and Ajelogo. “We didn’t just kick slow, we unlocked assets, mobility, and economic expansion,” he said.

The Mayor concluded by thanking the Governor for his support and expressing confidence in the incoming administration, led by Mrs. Adetola Abubakar. The commissioning of the legacy projects marks a significant milestone in the history of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, and the Governor’s presence underscores the State Government’s commitment to supporting local governance and community development.
