
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday, July 20th, commissioned the newly constructed Aafin Adeboruwa palace in Igbogbo LCDA. This magnificent project, initiated by Builder Olusesan Daini, Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, is a testament to his commitment to preserving and promoting Igbogbo’s rich cultural heritage, especially in the last few days of his eight-year tenure.
Hon. Kayode Robert, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the palace as a symbol of heritage, continuity, and the enduring strength of traditional institutions.
He noted that the palace is not just a physical structure but a sacred house of culture, a sanctuary of wisdom, and a rally point for the collective identity of the Igogo people.
The Commissioner expressed appreciation to Daini for his vision, sensitivity, and commitment to culture and tradition, evident in the construction of the palace. He stated that Daini has inscribed his name in the history of the kingdom and elevated the stool of the traditional ruler.
Robert reiterated the state government’s commitment to the growth and development of traditional institutions and community development. He urged community members and traditional institutions to continue supporting their local government and LCDA in delivering dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
The Commissioner congratulated Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, on the commissioning of the palace and prayed that his reign would be long, peaceful, and prosperous. He also prayed that the palace would be a house of justice, a beacon of hope, and a symbol of unity for generations to come.
Builder Olusesan Daini, in his speech, expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him during his tenure, which is set to end in six days. He noted that the commissioning of the palace was a significant step in promoting art and culture. He emphasized that the palace would serve as a tourist attraction, promoting the local economy and contributing to the community’s growth.
He stressed that the palace would not only promote Yoruba culture and heritage but also increase the community’s GDP. He thanked everyone who attended the program and supported him during his tenure, appreciating their prayers, encouragement, and commitment to the development of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA.
Senator Tokunbo Abiru described the palace as a symbol of tradition, dignity, and community values that transcend mere bricks and mortar. He commended Builder Olusesan Daini for building this legacy project, highlighting the power of collaboration between cultural institutions and visionary governance.
Abiru extended his heartfelt congratulations to Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, and the people of Igbogbo, wishing the palace would remain a source of pride, unity, and inspiration for generations to come.
The Lagos State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, represented by Hon. Noheem Adams, Majority Leader praised Daini for his respect for cultural heritage, describing the palace as a remarkable achievement. He also commended Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, Representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, for his good work in the House of Assembly.
The Speaker congratulated Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, on the commissioning of the palace, which he described as one of its kind in the history of Lagos State. He encouraged other local government chairmen to emulate Daini’s example and build similar palaces for traditional rulers in their respective areas.
Rep. Babajimi Benson noted that the LCDAs have already shown promise in improving local governance, citing the commissioning of a public health center in Ikosi-Isheri and other Local Government, as an example. Benson praised the outgoing chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Builder Daini, for his achievements and prayed that the incoming chairman would surpass his accomplishments with sufficient resources.
Benson also lauded the state Government’s development efforts, particularly the ongoing road construction project, which is expected to be completed within three months. He expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his support and leadership.
Oba Kabir Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom commended Daini for the wonderful project, describing it as outstanding. He congratulated the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom on the commissioning of the palace.
Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Oniru of Iru Land, expressed pride in Daini’s achievement, noting that the edifice was not surprising given his track record of excellence. He congratulated the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom on this God’sblessings.
Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, APC Chairman Lagos State, praised Daini for laying a legacy and having a successful administration. He commended Daini for delivering on his promise to build the palace within six months, describing it as a remarkable feat.
