
In a significant milestone for Somolu Local Government, four legacy projects were commissioned today, marking a new era in the area’s development. The projects, commissioned by Hajia Fatima Abbas, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, on behalf of First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, include a state-of-the-art council secretariat, a modern fire station, a police station, and a fully-equipped legislative building.
Hajia Fatima Abbas commended Hon. Hammed Salawu, popularly known as Dullar, for his visionary leadership and commitment to providing essential infrastructure for the people of Somolu Local Government. “I want to commend Hon. Hammed Salawu for providing four good legacy projects for the people of Somolu Local Government,” she said.
In a speech read on her behalf by Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, wife of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Senator Oluremi Tinubu lauded the projects as impactful and urged the residents to reciprocate the laudable gesture. The First Lady’s emphasized the importance of community support and cooperation in sustaining the projects.
The projects were formally commissioned by Hajia Fatima Abbas, representing the First Lady of Nigeria, and stakeholders in Shomolu praised the remarkable achievements. The council secretariat was named after Senator Oluremi Tinubu, while the police station was named after Bashua, which had previously been vandalized during the #EndSARS protests. The legislative building was named after the late Senator Bayo Oshinowo.
Hon. Hammed Salawu (Dullar) expressed his gratitude to the people of Somolu for their unwavering support in the last 8 years.
He described the commissioning of the projects as the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Somolu Local Government. He noted that the projects are a testament to the Government’s commitment to providing essential infrastructure and services to the people.
The Chairman thanked the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for gracing the occasion and for her continued support to the community. He praised her motherly support, stating that it cannot be overemphasized.
Hon. Salawu urged the residents to take ownership of the projects and ensure their sustainability. He called on all stakeholders to join hands in maintaining and utilizing the projects for the benefit of the community.
