The Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) held a stakeholders meeting on Monday, 23rd of July to discuss the renaming and renumbering of key roads within the council area. The meeting, which was attended by various stakeholders, including Hon. Adebimpe Akinshola, Hon. Gbenga Oshin, Hon. Taiwo Orenuga,  Adeboruwa in council, community leaders, residents, and government officials, aimed to provide a platform for discussion and feedback on the proposed changes.

According to Builder Olusesan Daini, the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, the renaming and renumbering exercise is part of the council’s efforts to improve the navigability and accessibility of the area. Daini explained that the exercise would involve the renaming of Ebute-Igbogbo Road and Obafemi Awolowo Way, as well as the renumbering of properties along these roads.

Daini provided details on the proposed renaming, stating that the stretch from Agarawu roundabout in Igbogbo down to AFAA river (Opposite Lakers hotel) by the left side and Solebo junction by the right side would be designated as Oba Adeboruwa road while the beginning of Obafemi Awolowo Way to Yewa river junction (Odofin street junction) would be renamed as Chief Imam Dikrullah Andu road, while the from Odofin street junction to Prince Abiodun Ogunleye Estate would retain the name Obafemi Awolowo Way.

The Executive Chairman noted that the renaming and renumbering exercise would not only provide clarity and consistency in the identification of properties and roads but also facilitate easy navigation for visitors and residents alike. He added that the council would ensure that the new names and numbering system are registered on Google Maps to enhance accessibility and visibility.

The stakeholders meeting provided a platform for attendees to provide feedback and suggestions on the proposed changes, and the council has assured that all concerns would be taken into consideration before the implementation of the new naming and numbering system.
