In a bid to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the forthcoming Local Government Election, the Onward Movement, a prominent political organization, held a get together  and a crucial meeting with the group stakeholders in Ikorodu Division. The gathering, aimed at mobilizing support for the party’s candidates in Ikorodu Local Government, Ikorodu North LCDA, and Ikorodu West LCDA, was addressed by the Visionary of Onward Movement, Hon. SOB Agunbiade, former Ikorodu Constituency 1 representative and Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

In his address, Hon. Agunbiade urged attendees to stand firm behind the APC candidates, emphasizing the importance of loyalty to the party. “I want you all to stand firm with our various Chairmanship Candidates in Ikorodu Local Government, Ikorodu North LCDA, and Ikorodu West LCDA,” he declared. “Don’t be deceived and tempted by the opposition; show your 100 percent loyalty to APC.” He praised the party’s leadership, highlighting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visionary leadership.

Hon. Agunbiade also reflected on his personal experience with the party. He cited an example when he didn’t get the party ticket to contest for the state House of Assembly in 2003. Despite this, his loyalty made him stand firm in the party. In another instance, another party offered him a ticket, but he declined, citing loyalty to the APC as the reason. He added, “APC is the same party that gave me the platform to serve four terms at the Lagos State House of Assembly. It is a party that is worthy and rewarding.”

He noted that the meeting was just a stakeholders’ gathering, hinting that a more massive general assembly would soon follow.

He emphasized his unwavering loyalty to the APC, stating, “I, SOB Agunbiade, I am loyal to APC, and if you are a member of Onward, you need to stand firm with the party.” He charged members to actively support the party’s candidates in their respective local governments, ensuring a strong showing in the upcoming elections.

Mr. Hakeem Bello, former Principal of Oriwu Senior Model College and a leader of the Onward Movement highlighted the enduring legacy of Onward Movement, tracing its roots back to 2003. He praised Agunbiade’s leadership, noting that the group has consistently demonstrated its strength and resilience over the years. “There are opportunities ahead for everyone of us,” Bello declared, “and SOB is a leader that we can trust.”

Bello emphasized that Agunbiade’s leadership has left an indelible mark on Ikorodu, stating that “Ikorodu is feeling the absence of SOB, and they will still feel it till tomorrow.”

He went on to discuss the group’s dynamics, drawing parallels with biblical teachings. He noted that even Jesus Christ had 12 disciples with differing perspectives and that it’s natural for associations to have members with varying views. Bello emphasized the importance of inclusivity, stating that the group is open to welcoming members from other parties who share their vision.

He also highlighted the shifting political landscape, noting that many people are leaving the PDP to join the APC. Bello expressed optimism about the group’s prospects, congratulating Agunbiade on his leadership and thanking God for his life. He prayed for divine intervention to aid the group’s efforts.
