
To mark the Legacy Project for the 2024/2025 Lions Service Year, Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club, led by the President Leo Abdulrahaman Ajasa, spearheaded an impactful initiative tagged “Education Drive” aimed at providing educational support to pupils in Ikorodu. Yesterday, 19th of June, the club distributed educational materials to pupils at Jamatul Islamiyyah Primary School and Salvation Army Primary School.
At Jamatul Islamiyyah Primary School, a total of 126 pupils received educational materials, which include 2 exercise books, pencil, biro, ruler, sharpener, and eraser. Additionally, 60 kindergarten and nursery pupils received socks, along with either a sharpener, biscuits, or an eraser. Similarly, at Salvation Army Primary School, 125 pupils, including special needs students, received educational materials, while another 60 pupils received the socks package.
In total, 371 pupils benefited from the Education Drive project, receiving essential materials to support their educational development. The project was made possible through the generous support of donors, including Mr. Basheer Tosin Ashafa, who provided significant backing for the initiative.
Speaking at the legacy Project, Leo Abdulrahaman Ajasa, President of the Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Basheer Tosin Ashafa for his huge support towards the project, as well as to the Lions and his fellow Leos for their outstanding support. He urged the pupils to be good ambassadors of there School and Ikorodu, focus on their studies, and strive to become great leaders in the future.
Ajasa also encouraged the pupils to emulate the spirit of giving when they grow up, saying, “Giving is blessing.” As the Lions Service Year is winding down, with just 9 days to his handing over, Ajasa extended heartfelt gratitude to his fellow Leos for their unwavering support since he assumed office. He also thanked all the supporters who have donated to the club’s projects, aimed at giving back to the immediate community.
Addressing the Pupils Leo Keji Lawal, the club’s Membership Director, stated that the club’s projects are designed to align with the values and mission of Lions International.
Lawal highlighted the various ways in which Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club has been making a positive impact in the community. She emphasized that the club’s initiatives are geared towards serving humanity and promoting community development. Through its projects, the club aims to empower individuals and groups to become active participants in the development of their communities.
The Education Drive project is a testament to the Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club’s commitment to empowering the next generation and making a positive impact in their community. As the club’s president prepares to hand over, he is proud of the achievements made during his tenure and is confident that the legacy will continue.
