Kosofe Local Government has commenced desilting and evacuation of drainages and canals across various communities within the council area to mitigate flooding and prevent clogged drainage systems during the rainy season. This effort is part of the Kosofe Environmental Initiative, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and combating environmental degradation.

The desilting activities are being carried out simultaneously across all six wards of the local government, with over 15 communities’ drainages presently being desilted. Some of the affected communities include Awolowo Canal in Oworo, Oworo Road Phase II, Surulere Street in Oworo, Olabode Aluko Street in Oworo, Onabanjo Street in Oworo, Ireku Street in Oworo, Salawu Oriola Street in Oworo, Moshalashi Street in Ogudu, Dagunro Close in Ojota, Adeola Street in Medina Estate Ifako, Omoyele Pratt Glory Estate in Ifako, Alhaji Alli Owe Street in Oworo, Olanrewaju Street in Oworo, Ifateludo Street in Ifako, and Association Close in Ogudu, with more to follow.

Residents are advised to desist from indiscriminate disposal of waste into drainage channels to prevent blockages and ensure the continued effectiveness of these efforts.
