In a grand victory rally held on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), was celebrated by Residents, Stakeholders, supporters and party faithful after her triumph in the APC chairmanship primary election. The event was marked by jubilation, and dancing, as the crowd gathered to congratulate their leader on her victory.

In her victory speech, Princess Bada expressed profound gratitude to the people of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA for their unwavering support. She emphasized that the victory was a testament to collective dedication and focus, highlighting the progress made during her first term in office. She declared, “This victory is not just about winning an election; it’s about the collective progress we have made and the greater heights we are yet to attain together.”

The Mayoress extended her sincere appreciation to party leaders, her Exco, the Electoral Committee, delegates, and loyal party faithful for their roles in her victory. She emphasized the importance of unity, stating, “Reconciliation is not an afterthought — it is already in motion. We are one family. No winners or losers — only co-builders of a greater tomorrow.”

Princess Bada called on her fellow contestants to join hands in building a stronger, more prosperous Ikosi-Isheri. She declared, “Together, we are stronger. Together, we will win bigger.” She outlined her commitment to building bridges, not walls, and to delivering bold expansion, accelerated development, and visible results.

The Mayoress concluded her speech by thanking the people of Ikosi-Isheri for their belief in her and her vision. She stated, “With your continued support, we will write a legacy that will outlive politics and inspire generations. Let’s make history — together.”

Abdulmajid Oloyede, Special Assistant on Legal Matters to the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has debunked claims questioning the eligibility of Chairman Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada to contest for a second term. Oloyede described the claims as “deliberate falsehood” and “misrepresentation” of the law.

Some aggrieved ex-aspirants had cited the 1999 Constitution, Fourth Alteration, Number 16, to challenge Princess Bada’s eligibility. However, Oloyede clarified that the amendment only pertains to presidential and gubernatorial elections, not local government elections.

Oloyede emphasized that the Constitution is supreme and that the electoral law in Lagos State clearly outlines the qualifications for local government chairmanship. He stated that Princess Bada meets all the necessary qualifications, including age and party membership.

Oloyede also addressed misconceptions about Princess Bada’s tenure, stating that she has only contested one election and completed a term that was not her own due to death of her boss then, He challenged anyone to produce evidence of her contesting multiple elections.

Oloyede urged aggrieved aspirants to seek redress through the proper channels, such as the appeal committee, rather than spreading falsehoods and misrepresenting the law. He emphasized the importance of respecting the democratic process and the rule of law.

Hon. Adekoya Gbadegoke, Majority Leader of the Legislative Arm has lauded the Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, for her outstanding performance. Speaking on her recent victory in the APC chairmanship primary election, Gbadegoke attributed her success to her effective strategy, describing politics as a “game of numbers” and a “very technical game.”

Gbadegoke highlighted the chairman’s impressive projects, noting that they align with the vision of President Tinubu, the progenitor of modern Lagos. He specifically mentioned the healthcare sector, pointing to a nearly completed health center  like a general hospital slated for commissioning by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

Regarding reconciliation, Gbadegoke revealed that efforts are underway to bring other aspirants into the fold. He noted that party  chairman has started reaching out to them, expressing hope that they would eventually yield to the party’s supremacy.

Gbadegoke emphasized that Princess Bada is widely loved and urged the party leadership to recognize her mandate. He also defended the constitutionality of her seeking a second term, citing the screening committee’s approval.

Chief Adeshina Adekoya, Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), commended Chairman Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada for her impressive achievements during her first term in office. Adekoya highlighted notable projects such as road construction and the development of a new, state-of-the-art primary healthcare center, among others.

Chief Adekoya urged the community to support Mayoress Bada’s bid for a second term, citing her good work and the need for continuity in governance. He emphasized that her leadership has been evident and deserving of renewal.
