In a grand finale to a week-long celebration, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Samiat Bada, commissioned several key infrastructure projects and empowered residents with various skills and tools. The commissioned projects included a new Legislative Building, Customary Court, Agencies Complex, and a renovated 3-block classroom at Ikosi Primary School. Additionally, residents received empowerment support in the form of tricycles, barbing kits, hairdryers, sewing machines, grinding machines, vulcanizing machines, popcorn machines, POS devices with cash, and coolers stocked with soft drinks.

The Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Samiat Bada, declared the conclusion of a week-long project commissioning and empowerment program, describing it as a landmark event for the community. Despite initial doubts and challenges.

In her speech, Princess Samiat expressed gratitude to various stakeholders, including the President of Nigeria for granting local government autonomy, the Governor of Lagos for creating an enabling environment, and the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their support. She also thanked her team for their hard work and dedication, as well as guests, traditional leaders, government officials, and members of the press for witnessing the commissioning of the projects.

She highlighted the significance of the projects, including the empowerment of over 500 people, and expressed confidence in the LCDA’s ability to deliver more. Princess Samiat urged residents to support her and her team if given another opportunity to serve, promising to do even more. The event showcased the LCDA’s commitment to grassroots development and empowerment, leaving a lasting impact on the residents of Ikosi-Isheri.


The APC Chairman in Lagos State, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, expressed pride in the party’s achievements in the development of the LCDA. He commended Mayoress for her efforts in empowering citizens and providing monumental developments in the local government.

Pastor Ojelabi urged beneficiaries of the empowerment program to utilize the items provided to improve their livelihoods, emphasizing that it was a deliberate effort to lift people out of poverty and ensure the dividends of democracy are felt.

He also called on members of the community to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner during the upcoming elections, casting their votes wisely to determine the leadership of their local government for the next four years.

Alhaji Mutiu Are, Secretary of the Lagos State Government Advisory Council, commended Princess Samiat Bada’s gracious projects, saying they are truly commendable, highlighting her commitment to community development in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.

Senator Gbenga Ashafa, former Senator representing Lagos East, praised the Mayoress for delivering numerous projects within a short period of time. According to Senator Ashafa, these projects will leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Cecilia Bolaji Dada, has praised Mayoress for her impressive development initiatives. With over 104 projects, including construction and rehabilitation efforts, the Commissioner described the achievements as “huge” and a source of encouragement for women.

Mrs. Dada expressed pride in the LCDA Chairperson’s accomplishments and encouraged other women in positions of authority to emulate her example, highlighting the impact that women in leadership can have on their communities.

Hon. Femi Saheed, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Kosofe Constituency 2, applauded Princess Samiat Bada for the commissioning life-changing infrastructures across Ikosi-Isheri Local Government. Speaking on the legislative building and offices, Customary Court records, and a soon-to-be-commissioned health center, Hon. Saheed described the developments as a testament to the benefits of democracy.

He praised the local government chairman for empowering over 500 beneficiaries with tools to enhance their livelihoods, saying it was a commendable effort that showcased the party’s commitment to giving back to society. He expressed optimism that if similar initiatives are replicated across Nigeria’s 774 local governments, the country would experience significant progress.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, lauded for her outstanding achievements in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA. Mrs. Bolarinwa praised Princess Samiat’s sense of responsibility and commitment to grassroots development, highlighting the excellent projects delivered under her leadership.

Mrs. Bolarinwa expressed pride in being associated with Princess Samiat’s success, both in her capacity as a government official and as a woman. She commended Princess Samiat’s laudable achievements, setting a positive example for others to follow.
