Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, warmly received the Team Lagos Skaters upon their triumphant return from the 2025 Skate-a-Thon in Calabar. In a heartwarming gesture of appreciation, Governor Sanwo-Olu presented each athletes with an additional N50,000, recognizing their remarkable achievements and dedication to promoting Lagos on the national stage.

The Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development Mr Adebanji Adeoye Atewogboye who represented the Governor to receive them presented the cash Gift to the athletes.

The governor’s gesture underscored his administration’s commitment to supporting and empowering talented Lagosians, particularly the youth. By acknowledging the skaters’ hard work and contributions to the state’s reputation, Sanwo-Olu reinforced his government’s passion for nurturing and celebrating homegrown talent.

The Team Lagos Skaters’ impressive performance at the Skate-a-Thon was a testament to their skill, perseverance, and the effectiveness of Lagos State’s sports development programs. As they basked in the praise and recognition from their governor, the athletes were undoubtedly motivated to continue striving for excellence and putting Lagos State on the map.

The 25 athletes and officials who participated in the event were warmly received by Mr. Adebanji Adeoye Atewogboye, Senior Aide to the Governor on Grassroots Sports Development, at the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) office located at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

The SSA’s commitment to grassroots sports development has been instrumental in promoting athletic growth and development in Lagos State sports hub. Mr. Governor has made a wise decision in selecting the right person for the grassroots sports job, ensuring a smooth fit and optimal performance.
