Residents of Isheri gathered on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, for the second day of the week-long commissioning of 19 projects, marking a significant milestone in the community’s history.

Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, transformed the face of the LCDA’s area office at Isheri with the commissioning of the newly built complex. The state-of-the-art facility features modern offices and a hall named in honor of Hon. Kunle Soname Multipurpose Hall, a former chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA. Additionally the Hon. Afolabi Kazeem Shopping Complex in Isheri in honour of the Former ExecutiveSecretary of the LCDA, a development aimed at bolstering economic growth in the community.

Princess Samiat Bada expressed her pride, joy, and gratitude, highlighting the tangible change these projects will bring to residents’ lives.

According to the Mayoress, the projects represent a promise to never stop working to make lives better and to keep striving to improve the community. The commissioned projects include the Isheri Area Office, a Multi-Purpose Hall, and a Shopping Complex, which will serve as a hub for local businesses to thrive and opportunities to flourish.

Additionally, several infrastructure projects were commissioned, including the resurfacing of Kayode Falowo Street in Diamond Estate, Adenike Ogunye Street in Magodo Phase II, and the transformation of Mutairu Street in Shangisha. The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotosho, commended Mayoress on these laudableprojects.  He said these projects will contribute to the development of the council and boost its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Deputy Chairman Moshood Mayegun, representing APC State Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, praised the Mayoress, saying she has done wonderfully well. He mentioned that this isn’t her first project, and she’s been inviting the party to join in commissioning projects.

He highlighted a notable example where the community Leader a 97-year-old man, who had seen the area develop over 40 years, expressed joy over the transformation. Mayegun assured that the Mayoress would oversee the maintenance of the projects and advised those working there to be God-fearing and supportive.

High Chief Bankole Baale said when they got this space it was established as a health center, then a women center before it eventually became the Area Office of the Council. He thanked the Mayoress for transforming the face of this place, expressing his appreciation and stating that the community is with her and urges her to continue her good work.

Olujobi, a former Council Manager, commended the Mayoress for her leadership skills, describing her as a good team leader and a listener who values her staff’s input. He urged staff to work hand-in-hand with the Mayoress.

Dr. Murtala Seriki announced that the youths in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area plan to purchase forms for the Mayoress’s second term in office, expressing their satisfaction with her performance. Notably, donations were made on the spot to support this endeavor.
