In a bid to promote academic excellence and intellectual growth, Councillor Bashir Saheed Omogbolahan (Elewedu), representing Ward ‘D’ also Chairmanship Aspirant Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, hosted the second edition of the Inter-Primary School Quiz Competition, on the 26th of February, bringing together talented young minds from across the Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

The competition, held at the Agboyi-Ketu Area Office, featured 20 pupils from 10 primary schools within the LCDA. The pupils showcased their skills in Mathematics, English, Basic Science, and Current Affairs.

Councillor Elewedu emphasized the importance of quality primary education, stating that “all leaders today are at least products of basic education.” He called on all stakeholders, including the government, to build a brighter future for children through quality education.

“We must do more in standardizing our primary education because all leaders must, by our constitution, possess primary education,” Councillor Elewedu said.

The Education Secretary, Kosofe Local Government Education Authority, Mr. Babatunde Shoneye, praised Councillor Elewedu for initiating the competition. He noted that such programs bring out the best in pupils, encouraging them to read and prepare for academic challenges.

“The initiative is wonderful. We quite appreciate this initiative because this kind of programme brings out the best in these pupils. It makes them feel agitated to read and to prepare for academic challenges,” Mr. Shoneye said.

Applauding Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s efforts in developing primary education, Mr. Shoneye commended Councillor Elewedu for creating a conducive learning environment, recruiting qualified teachers, and providing training.

The quiz mistress, Mrs. Olamide Olotun, commended the organizers and the pupils for showing mastery. She urged the students to be more prepared for future competitions.

The winners of the competition were Miss Oyediran Abosede and Miss Pascalen Egenonu of Arowosegbe Primary School, Alapere. They received medals and school materials, including school bags and mathematical sets. Consolation prizes were also awarded to all participating schools.

Other participating primary schools included Ajelogo, Apostolic, Irepodun, Agboyi, Pastor Adegboyega, Orisigun, and Alapere.
