
February 6, 2025, marked a significant milestone in Nigeria’s creative and digital economy as SynergyCon 1.0 unveiled a bold initiative to redefine the future of the industry. The high-level cocktail event, themed “YOUR IP, YOUR FUTURE” – ‘Collaboration for Economic Growth,’ brought together Nigeria’s brightest minds from the creative, technology, legal/judicial, and finance sectors.
The event, held at the Alliance Française/Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos, was attended by distinguished guests, including the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Hon. Olatunbosun Alake, Lagos State Honorable Commissioner of Innovation, Science, and Technology.
In his address, Hon. Alake emphasized the state’s commitment to fostering innovation and creativity. The keynote speech was delivered by Hon. Justice Helen Moronkeji Ogunwumiju, JSC CFR, who offered profound insights on the jurisprudence of intellectual property, setting the stage for critical discussions on ownership, protection, and monetization of creative assets.
Other notable speakers included Her Excellency, Erelu Ambassador Dr. Olufolake Abdulrasaq, First Lady of Kwara State and Chairperson of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum; Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, Lagos State Commissioner of Youth and Social Development; and Ms. Chalya Shagaya, SSA to the President on Entrepreneurship Development (CIDE).

The event featured two power-packed panel discussions moderated by Ms. Ayodele Kotey and Mr. Adeayo Adebiyi. Industry giants, including Mr. Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, Co-founder of Flutterwave and Andela; Mr. Adebayo Adedeji, GCEO of Wakanow; and Mr. Bizzle Osikoya, Founder of The Plug, shared their insights on the creative economy.
Mr. Deji Fayose, GCFO of FCMB Group Plc, delivered a compelling analysis of the size and potential of the Creative Economy, offering a financial perspective on how to scale the industry and unlock new opportunities for creatives.
