In a bid to promote agricultural excellence and economic development in Ibarapa Land, Oyo State, a Civil Engineer and philanthropist, Bello Tunde Al-ameen, has collaborated with Seyi Tinubu to launch the ETB/Seyi Tinubu Empowerment Program tomorrow, 19th of February. The program, which aims to encourage farmers, particularly youths, in Ibarapa Land to engage in agriculture, was held in Igbo-Ora, also known as the “Nation’s Home of Twins.”
Al-ameen, a native of Igboora, Ibarapa Land, Oyo State, explained that his background and upbringing influenced his decision to empower farmers in his community. “We are predominantly farmers. Our fathers, forefathers were farmers. Successful sons and daughters of Igboora and Ibarapa land in general were all trained from income generated from farming, so agriculture in Ibarapa land is a heritage which we so much cherish.”
The main objective of the ETB/Seyi Tinubu Empowerment Program is to encourage farmers, particularly youths, in Ibarapa Land to engage in agriculture, and to attract government agencies and investors to explore the agricultural potentials of the area. Al-ameen emphasized that Ibarapa Land has the potential to feed the nation, given its vast agricultural resources.
Igbo-Ora was chosen as the venue for the event due to its strategic location as the center of Ibarapa Land and its largest town. Al-ameen collaborated with Seyi Tinubu, the first son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to demonstrate his support for the government’s agricultural initiatives.
The empowerment program featured lectures, exhibitions, and the distribution of agricultural resources, including knapsack sprayers and chemicals, to farmers. Al-ameen expressed his gratitude to Seyi Tinubu, Honourable Minister of Youth, Com Ayodele Olawande, and the National Deputy Youth Leader of the party, Hon Kamaldeen Kabir, for their support.
The initiative is expected to contribute to agricultural excellence and economic development in Ibarapa Land and Oyo State at large. Al-ameen plans to ensure the sustainability of the initiative through follow-up interactions with the community.
In his message to young people interested in agriculture and agribusiness, Al-ameen emphasized the prospects and potential of the agricultural sector, encouraging them to invest in it regardless of their profession.
The ETB/Seyi Tinubu Empowerment Program is a call to action for stakeholders, organizations, and individuals to support agricultural development in Ibarapa Land. Al-ameen appealed for investments in agriculture, provision of improved seedlings, training on new agricultural techniques, and establishment of profitable markets for agricultural produce.
