The Mayoress of Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, yesterday, 17th of February distributed free JAMB forms to deserving students in the local council area. The event, which took place at the Senator Bayo Oshinowo Hall, Council Secretariat, Ikosi, was a significant stride towards supporting the Educational aspirations of students in the community.
In her address, Princess Samiat Bada emphasized the importance of education in transforming lives and uplifting communities. She noted that the provision of free JAMB forms was not just an act of goodwill, but a commitment to the future of the students and a recognition of their hard work and determination. “Education is the foundation upon which dreams are built,” she said. “Each one of you, sitting here today, carries the potential to change the world.”
The Mayoress also offered words of encouragement and advice to the students, urging them to take their studies seriously and strive for excellence. “You need to read well and pass with flying colours,” she said. “Go into the exam hall, don’t fear, and you will excel.”
She also highlighted the council’s vision for educational development, which extends beyond JAMB. The council is dedicated to creating an environment where learning, innovation, and creativity flourish, and has implemented various initiatives to support this vision. These include continuous ICT training programs, skills acquisition training initiatives, and support for primary schools. “We recognize the importance of a strong foundation in education,” Princess Bada said. “Supporting our primary schools is crucial, for it is in those early years that the seeds of knowledge and character are planted.”
Princess Bada urged the students to embrace the opportunity with both hands, work hard, and stay focused. She reminded them that education is not just about acquiring knowledge, but about creating pathways, building bridges, and making a positive impact in the lives of others. “As you embark on this exciting journey, carry the thought in your hearts that you are the change makers, the visionaries, and the leaders of tomorrow,” she said.
The Mayoress concluded by quoting Nelson Mandela, saying “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” She encouraged the students to work together to ensure that Ikosi Isheri LCDA shines bright as a beacon of hope and progress.
Adeniji Abdullateef, one of the beneficiaries, expressed his gratitude and admiration for the Mayoress’s efforts. “This is a great opportunity for the whole students in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA,” he said. “We have seen lots of things she has been doing – lots of empowerment for youths in this LCDA. It has also served as an encouragement to me as a young person.
Another beneficiary, Kemi Adeyeri, also thanked the Mayoress for her kindness and support. “Thank you to our mother, thank you for your love,” she said. “We will ensure we try our possible best to come out in flying colours in our exams.
