The Mayoress of Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, distributed foodstuff packages to residents on Monday, February 17, 2025. The event, held at the Senator Bayo Oshinowo Hall, Council Secretariat, Ikosi, demonstrated the council’s commitment to supporting its residents during difficult times.

In her address, Princess Samiat Bada acknowledged the economic challenges facing the world and Nigeria, emphasizing that the residents of Ikosi Isheri are not alone. She reiterated her administration’s dedication to serving the people, ensuring that no one is left behind, and standing together to overcome adversity.

The foodstuff package represents a symbol of the community’s resilience, strength, and unwavering spirit. Princess Bada encouraged the residents to continue showing kindness, unity, and resilience, emphasizing that together, they can achieve greatness.

As part of her administration’s efforts to create opportunities, Princess Bada pledged to work with the government, stakeholders, and community leaders in areas such as:

  • Infrastructural Development: Improving the council’s infrastructure to support the needs of its residents.
  • Primary Healthcare: Providing access to quality healthcare services for all residents.
  • Poverty Alleviation: Implementing initiatives to reduce poverty and promote economic growth.
  • Education and ICT Training: Supporting education and ICT training programs to equip residents with skills for the future.
  • Skills Acquisition Training: Providing training programs to enhance residents’ skills and employability.

Princess Bada reassured the residents that this is just the beginning and that their needs are heard. She expressed her commitment to finding more ways to help each and every one of them, emphasizing that the future is bright for Ikosi Isheri LCDA.

Engr. Oshipitan Moses, CDC PRO, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA and Chairman of Mercy Seat Estate CDA at Ward G, praised the Mayoress, saying “she has been performing exceptionally well, and at least we can award her 95% brilliantly for the palliative program”.

The palliative program, which targets widows, elders, senior citizens, and the less privileged, has been widely appreciated by the community. Engr. Moses noted that the current economic situation in Nigeria has made everyone vulnerable, and therefore, any form of support is well-received.

Raheem Eleshin, a beneficiary of the food palliatives, expressed his gratitude to the Mayoress, saying “Thank you, Mayoress, for your kindness and generosity. Your support means a lot to me and my family.”

Idowu Bola, another beneficiary, also thanked the Mayoress, saying “We appreciate your efforts to support us during these challenging times. Your leadership is a blessing to our community.”
