
The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Igbogbo-Baiyeku local branch, embarked on a school visitation tour, to Zumratul Islamiyyah Grammar School on Monday, January 20th, and Oreyo Senior Secondary School on Wednesday, January 22nd. The visit was centered around the topic “Community Policing and Partnership: A Collaboration between Community Members (Youth) and Law Enforcement to Address Community Concerns and Crime Prevention.”
Comrade Ogunsowo Ridwan Opeyemi, Acting Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (IBLCDA), addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of community policing and partnership in maintaining public safety and preventing crime. He explained that the purpose of the visit was to share knowledge about the National Youth Council of Nigeria and its operations, as well as to foster a good structure for collaboration between the council and the Lagos State government.
Opeyemi highlighted the benefits of community policing and partnership, including sharpening the minds of young people, sensitizing and rehabilitating them towards positivity, and grooming them on the importance of education for their careers and future ambitions. He encouraged the students to take an active role in maintaining public safety and preventing crime in their communities.
The visitation was well-received, with over 600 SS3 students attending at Oreyo Senior Secondary School. The students were enthusiastic and engaged, asking questions and participating in discussions with Opeyemi and other council members. The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Igbogbo-Baiyeku local branch, plans to continue promoting community policing and partnership in schools and communities across the local government area.
