
Princess Samiat Bada has launched the 3rd edition of its Free ICT Training Program, an initiative aimed at equipping residents with 21st-century skills. The program, which was launched earlier today, Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Senator Adebayo Osinowo Hall, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA Secretariat, is part of the council’s efforts to empower its youths and uplift the community.
In her speech, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Yinka Ogunleye, celebrated the impact of the previous cohorts, noting that many graduates are now excelling in various fields, including graphics design, animation, business management, and cinematography. She emphasized that the program is a direct investment in the future of the community, providing residents with the skills needed to thrive in the digital age.
This year’s program offers a range of courses, including Cyber Security, Data Analysis, Product Design (UI/UX), Full Stack Web Development, Graphics and Animation, Desktop Publishing, Technical Engineering/Cinematography, Creative Design Screen Art Production, and Administrative Management. These courses are designed to provide participants with the building blocks for personal and professional success.
Princess Bada assured the participants that the council is committed to ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital revolution. She noted that the council will deepen the impact of the program, enhance its reach, and introduce more advanced courses tailored to emerging global trends.
The Mayoress thanked her team, facilitators, and participants for their efforts and enthusiasm, and acknowledged the support of the entire Ikosi-Isheri community. She reiterated her commitment to the progress of Ikosi-Isheri, stating that every decision she makes is driven by her deep love and dedication to the community.
The Free ICT Training Program is one of the council’s initiatives aimed at promoting digital inclusion and economic empowerment in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.
Oba Jamiu Lawal, the Oba of Shangisha, has commended the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA for launching a youth empowerment initiative. The monarch praised the program, urging participants to remain focused and attentive, as this will ultimately lead to a brighter future for them.
Hon. Damilare Orimoloye, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Sports to the Governor of Lagos State, has praised the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, for investing in the future of the youth in the community.
Orimoloye emphasized the importance of technology in today’s world, noting that it has become an integral part of every aspect of life, from education to healthcare, sports, and governance. He encouraged the youth to take advantage of the program, which offers courses in data analysis, networking, cinematography, web design, and graphic design, among others.
The SSA on Sports also highlighted the impact of technology on the economy, citing the example of the APAPA wharf traffic clearance and the COVID-19 pandemic response. He noted that technology has become a crucial tool for solving problems and improving lives.
Orimoloye concluded by urging the participants to be disciplined, focused, and determined, as these qualities are essential for success in the program. He also encouraged them to explore their areas of interest and to use technology to solve problems and create positive impact.
According to Hon. Seyi Eniola, Special Adviser on ICT to the Mayoress, the program has been a huge success since its inception last year. “This is our third edition, and we are proud to offer our youths the opportunity to acquire skills in various areas of technology,” Eniola said.
The program offers a range of courses, including Cyber Security, Data Analysis, Product Design, and UI/UX, among others. These courses, which normally come at a high cost, are being offered free of charge to the youths of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, courtesy of the Mayoress.
Eniola expressed appreciation to the Mayoress for providing the platform and opportunity for the youths to acquire these skills. He emphasized the importance of technology in today’s world, stating that “without technology, nothing can move.”
Beneficiaries of the program expressed their gratitude to the Mayoress for the opportunity. Oyindamola, one of the beneficiaries, said, “I’m excited to be a part of this program. It will definitely enhance my knowledge and skills in the digital space.”
Emmanuel Adekunle, another beneficiary, stated, “I’m confident that this program will equip me with the skills I need to succeed in today’s 21st-century technology. It will open doors for me to achieve my dreams.”
Abisola, also a beneficiary, said, “I believe this program will broaden my knowledge and skills in ICT, and it will give me a competitive edge in the job market. Thank you, Mayoress, for this wonderful opportunity”
