Ikorodu kingdom witnessed the installation of Chief (DCNS) Busola Elizabeth Isikalu as the new Iyaloja-General on Sunday, January 19, 2025. The ceremony, which took place at the Ikorodu Musical Village, was attended by dignitaries, including Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, and Chief Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, Iyaloja-General of Nigeria.

In her acceptance speech, Chief Busola Elizabeth Isikalu, the newly installed Iyaloja-General of Ikorodu Division, pledged to bring economic prosperity to market men and women in the division. Speaking at her official Iwuye Ceremony, which coincided with her birthday, Chief Isikalu expressed her gratitude to the royal fathers, market leaders, and government officials for their support.

She commended the royal fathers, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, Ranodu of Imota, Oba Abdul-Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Akeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo, Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, Oba Basiru Aremu Sotonwa, Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Richard Abayomi Ogunsanya, Olubeshe of Ibeshe, Oba Olukayode David Raji Eweye of Isiwu, Oba Ahmed M. Ogunnaike Ogunderu, Alagura of Agura and Oba Omotayo, Fidimolu of Elepe Kingdom for their fatherly support and guidance. She also appreciated the support of Chief (Mrs) Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria.

Chief Isikalu assured the market men and women that her leadership would bring good times and economic prosperity. She reiterated her commitment to the 7-Point Market Development Agenda, promising to pursue it to a logical conclusion.

The Iyaloja-General also appealed to Government functionaries to provide grants and single-digit loans to support market businesses. She highlighted the significant contribution of the informal sector to the national GDP, emphasizing the need to provide necessary support to keep the economy afloat.

Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, congratulated the new Iyaloja-General, Chief Busola Elizabeth Isikalu, while presenting her certificate of office. Adeshina expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria and the royal fathers for their support.

The Chairman wished the Iyaloja-General best of luck in her new role, acknowledging the significant responsibility she has undertaken to lead the market men and women in Ikorodu Division.
