
Builder Deola Banjo, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), presented the 2025 Budget Proposal to the Legislative Council on December 31, 2024. The proposed budget, titled “Budget of Consolidation,” aims to build on the progress achieved with the 2024 Budget of Infrastructure, which successfully delivered 95% of its projects.
The 2025 budget proposal estimates a total revenue of N3,828,894,924.37, comprising allocations from federal statutory sources, internally generated revenue (IGR), grants, and capital receipts. The projected expenditures are designed to balance personnel costs, recurrent overheads, and capital development, ensuring the continuous growth and functionality of the LCDA.
Budget Highlights:
– Personnel Costs: ₦1,041,358,010.46 allocated to maintain a motivated workforce
– Recurrent Overheads: ₦1,216,342,847.53 for seamless administration and service delivery
– Capital Expenditure: ₦1,376,358,789.63 earmarked for infrastructural development in critical sectors such as roads, education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability
Banjo emphasized the administration’s commitment to completing ongoing projects and initiating impactful programs that address the needs and aspirations of the people. This includes fostering economic growth, empowering youth and women, improving residents’ welfare, and sustaining transparent and accountable governance.
The Executive Chairman expressed gratitude to the legislative council, staff, and stakeholders for their support and cooperation. He urged the council members to carefully review the proposal, emphasizing that the budget’s success hinges on their input and adoption.
As the administration’s tenure draws to a close in June 2025, Banjo reiterated the importance of leaving a lasting legacy of growth, development, and prosperity for generations to come.
Hon. Ayo Abiodun Adekoya, Leader of the House acknowledged the robust relationship between the Legislative Council and the Executive Arm, which has yielded notable achievements. She emphasized the importance of increasing Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and blocking leakages in internal revenue for posterity’s sake.
The Legislative Council pledged to collaborate with the Executive Arm to bring democracy dividends closer to the people. Adekoya stressed the need for budgetary discipline, transparency, and adherence to policy guidelines. She assured speedy passage of the Year 2025 Appropriation Bill to facilitate continued development in Ikorodu North LCDA.
Adekoya commended the Executive Chairman for his accomplishments, including the construction of the Legislative Building, which features a hall and customary court to boost IGR. She also thanked Rep. Babajimi Benson for his support and assistance throughout the administration.
In attendance were the Executive Arm, the Management team, APC Apex leaders, Divisional party Chairman, CDC, Religious Leaders, Youth Representatives, among others.
