In a heartwarming display of kindness and dedication to the welfare of his residents, Hon. Rasaq Ajala, Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has once again subsidized the price of chickens for residents of the area, with thousands of residents seizing the opportunity to purchase chickens at a highly subsidized rate, a move widely praised as a testament to his people-oriented Governance.
According to Hon. Ajala, the goal of this initiative is to put food on the tables of the people and bring smiles to their faces during this festive period.
He stated that the program is part of the LCDA’s efforts to resonate with the actual needs of its people and provide support during the holiday season. He emphasized that as a Government, it is their responsibility to ensure that their people enjoy the season, and that this program is one way of achieving that goal.
Hon. Rasaq Ajala announced that the subsidized chicken program will offer chickens at a rate of N2,500, significantly lower than the market price of N10,000 to N12,000. He noted that this initiative is an annual tradition, and that the LCDA has been providing support to its residents during the holiday season for many years.
The Chairman explained that the program is open to all residents, regardless of their local government affiliation, as long as they have a voter’s card. He stated that the LCDA believes that everyone who resides in the area is their responsibility, and that they want to ensure that everyone has a chance to enjoy the holiday season.
Hon. Rasaq Ajala also noted that the LCDA has been working hard to deliver services and programs that meet the needs of its people. He emphasized that every local government in Lagos State is working hard to deliver services and programs that benefit their people, and that the Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA is no exception.
Hon. Rasaq Ajala, in his capacity as Secretary of Conference 57 in Lagos State, emphasized the importance of local government autonomy in Nigeria. He believes that financial autonomy is essential for local governments to effectively deliver services and programs that benefit their people. According to the Chairman, without autonomy for local governments in Nigeria, the people will not see the dividend of democracy.
Hon. Rasaq Ajala concluded by stating that the Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA’s subsidized chicken program is just one example of the impact that local governments can have when they are empowered to serve their communities. He urged the residents to take advantage of the program and enjoy the holiday season with their loved ones.
