Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, the led Administration of Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, in collaboration with Akanke Foundation, hosted its annual Christmas and New Year Funfair, a heartwarming event that celebrated children while also empowering widows and senior citizens with cash support. 

The atmosphere was filled with gratitude, appreciation, and fond remembrance as the program paid tribute to the late Mrs. Sijuade Akanke Anomo, the visionary behind the initiative. 

Notable personalities in attendance included the Vice Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin, Alh. Wasiu Dehinsilu; Executive Director of Akanke Foundation, Ms. Tomi Adegboyega; Co-Director of Akanke Foundation, Miss Aishat Anomo; Mrs. Aishat Dehinsilu, wife of the Vice Chairman; Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Mrs. Karewmat Hassan; Supervisor for Agriculture, Hon. Taiwo Onafila; APC Vice Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Mrs. Modinat Yusuf; APC LGA Secretary of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Hon. Anthony Ajewole; Mrs. Ramat Balogun, H.O.D of WAPA, and many others. 

In his address, the Executive Chairman, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, requested a moment of silence in honor of his late wife, Mrs. Sijuade Akanke Anomo, who initiated the program out of her love for children and her dedication to ensuring they experienced a joyful Yuletide season. He noted that her efforts in consistently organizing the event since the inception of the administration in 2021 had left a lasting legacy. 

Akogun Anomo reaffirmed his commitment to upholding her vision, emphasizing that the Akanke Foundation—established in her memory—is a key collaborator in the program. He highlighted the foundation’s focus on social welfare, education, empowerment, health support, and community awareness. He promised the Children of a more memorable funfair in years to come.

In her remarks, Ms. Tomi Adegboyega, Executive Director of Akanke Foundation, reiterated the family’s dedication to preserving the late Mrs. Anomo’s legacy. She explained the importance of the children’s funfair to her and emphasized the foundation’s decision to expand the initiative to include cash support for widows and the elderly, reflecting Mrs. Anomo’s generous spirit and commitment to supporting the needy in the community. 

The event featured engaging activities for the children, including “pick and talk,” train rides, bouncing castles, ice cream, popcorn, and face painting. Each widow and senior citizen received cash support of ₦10,000, spreading joy and easing burdens ahead of the festive season. Children were also treated to delicious meals and gift packs, ensuring a memorable experience for all. 

The program stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Mrs. Sijuade Akanke Anomo, and the commitment of Akogun Wale Raji Anomo to maintaining her vision of spreading joy and extending  support to the Residents of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
