
Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA Chairman, Builder Olusesan Daini, earlier today, 16th of December declared open a 3-day budget retreat aimed at crafting a “budget of accomplishment” for the council.
In his opening remarks, Builder Daini emphasized the importance of creating a budget that would be a testament to the council’s achievements over the last eight years. He noted that the budget would also serve as a blueprint for the next government, and therefore, must be “self-speaking” and “brilliant”.
Builder Daini highlighted the council’s revenue reform efforts, which have led to a significant increase in revenue generation. He disclosed that the council’s revenue has grown from ₦19 million per annum in 2017 to ₦80-90 million.
The LCDA boss stated that the retreat would focus on refining the council’s revenue reform template, with the goal of creating a model that could be replicated by other councils in the state and even nationwide.
He expressed optimism that the council would emerge as a leader in revenue generation, and that the template developed during the retreat would be sought after by the Ministry of Local Government and the local government service commission.
Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA Council Manager, Mr. Badmus Lateef, emphasized the importance of collective contributions to the development of the Local Government.
The retreat, themed “Budget of Accomplishment,” aims to bring together stakeholders to develop a comprehensive budget that drives the council’s development agenda. Mr. Lateef urged participants to give the retreat the needed attention, stressing that everyone’s input is crucial to creating a realistic budget.
Mrs. Dawodu B.A, Head of Department (HOD) for Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in her address, She emphasized the importance of collaborative discussions, stating, “The purpose of this gathering today is for us to deliberate on the fiscal year proposed budget and we are going to do our calculation, our addition and subtraction and then we talk across all the departments, the activities that we want to embark on at the end of 2025.”
She also took a moment to express gratitude towards the council chairman for his efforts in appraising the previous year’s budget, noting, “It has been very good. And I would say thank you to him. And I pray that God Almighty will strengthen you to do more.”
The 3 Budget retreat comprises of Executive Arm, Legislative, Management and staffs.
