In a remarkable display of generosity and commitment to his constituents, Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo (OGA), member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency 1, celebrated his 50th birthday with an empowerment program for women.
The event, which took place in two phases, saw Hon. Ogunleye presenting financial grants of N50,000 each to women from various parts of his constituency. He also visited the House Chloe Orphanage Home in Ipakodo, where he celebrated with the children and provided them with various food items.
In his remarks, Hon. Ogunleye explained that he chose to mark his milestone birthday in a low-key manner, showing empathy with the people amidst the current economic reality in the country. He advised the beneficiaries to invest the grant into their businesses, emphasizing the importance of financial prudence and entrepreneurship.
“I want to encourage you all to be financially disciplined and invest this grant wisely,” Hon. Ogunleye said. “As women, you play a vital role in the economic development of our community, and I believe that with the right support and resources, you can achieve great things.”
He also encouraged the women to promote vocational skills among their children, noting that the job market is increasingly demanding skills that go beyond formal education.
“Times have changed, and the job market is no longer just about certificates,” Hon. Ogunleye said. “Our children need to acquire vocational skills that will make them competitive in the job market. As mothers, you have a critical role to play in encouraging and supporting your children to develop these skills.”
Hon. Ogunleye appreciated his constituents for their support and trust in him. He promised to continue working tirelessly to represent their interests and promote the development of Ikorodu Constituency 1.
He also expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’m celebrating my birthday by giving back to the community and expressing my joy for having the blessing of both parents still with me at this age – I’m truly thankful.”
His wife, Mrs Damilola Ogunleye expressed appreciation on behalf of her husband and entire family for their presence and support.
The charity birthday event was attended by several dignitaries, including the APC Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA, and the Ikorodu Division APC Party Secretary. Hon. Ogunleye’s wife, Mrs. Damilola Ogunleye, expressed gratitude to all who attended and supported the event.
