
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, commissioned a new crèche facility at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja. The Governor, who was represented by Rev. Bukola Adeleke, Special Adviser on Christian Affairs, performed the commissioning as part of the chapel’s 25th anniversary celebration on Sunday, 1st of December.
The new creche facility is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the children of worshippers and civil servants in the state secretariat. The facility is equipped with modern amenities and staffed by trained caregivers.
He congratulated the members of the Chapel of Christ the Light on their 25th anniversary celebration. Rev. Adeleke acknowledged God’s faithfulness in the lives of the chapel members and encouraged all Christians in Lagos to continue praying for the government and the Governor.
In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of prayer for those in authority, citing biblical encouragement. He expressed his belief that through prayer, the Government will get it right.
He commended the chapel’s leadership for their vision and commitment to providing a supportive environment for families.
Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, represented by Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office congratulated the Chapel of Christ the Light on its 25th anniversary celebration. Mrs. Oyegbola expressed her happiness and gratitude to see the chapel’s growth and development over the years.
She acknowledged the chapel’s significance as a place of worship for public servants and commended its inclusive nature, particularly with the commissioning of a creche to cater to female officers and young mothers. “This shows that we have an inclusive Government,” she said.
Mrs. Oyegbola also emphasized the importance of the creche in supporting working mothers, allowing them to be productive in their offices while their children are being taken care of. She concluded by congratulating the church once again on its milestone anniversary.
The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Lagos State, Rt. Rev Stephen Adegbite, expressed his joy and gratitude as the Chapel of Christ’s Delight celebrates its 25th anniversary.
In an interview, Rt. Rev Adegbite stated that the silver jubilee anniversary is a wonderful occasion to thank God for the growth and development of the chapel. “It’s a year of silver jubilee and you know silver is something wonderful as one of the hardwares and today we thank God that we are alive,” he said.
Rt. Rev Adegbite, who is also the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Board, reflected on the chapel’s history, noting that he was present when the chapel was dedicated in 1999 by the late Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Dr. Kofi Sunday Mbang. “I was a young minister at that time and you can see what God has done over the years,” he said.
He expressed his gratitude to God for the growth of the chapel, noting that the congregation has grown significantly since its inception. “My brother here who is also now a bishop, Bishop Deji was the first presiding chaplain here and we were together with about four people and look at what congregation has grown today,” he said.
Rt. Rev Adegbite commended the members of the chapel, chaplains, vice chairmen, commissioners, permanent secretaries, and governors for their support and contributions to the chapel’s growth. He also thanked the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for its role in managing the chapel successfully.
The CAN Lagos State Chairman noted that the silver jubilee anniversary will serve as an impetus for more spiritual growth in Lagos State and the civil society. He encouraged civil servants to join the chapel and experience the power of prayer and praise.
Otunba Ayobade Obajimi, Chairman of the 25th Anniversary Committee of the Chapel of Christ the Light, in his speech acknowledging the chapel’s history and significance.
He explained that the chapel was commissioned on March 25, 1999, by His Eminence Dr. Sonny Kubat, with the goal of providing a venue for Christian gatherings and worship. Otunba Ayobade Obajimi noted that initially, it was restricted to national and state events, but later, the government handed it over to the Christian Association of Nigeria for proper running.
He expressed gratitude to past and present government officials, including President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Governors Babatunde Raji Fashola, Akinwunmi Ambode, and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for their contributions to the chapel’s growth and development. Otunba Ayobade Obajimi acknowledged the significant role played by these leaders in ensuring the chapel’s continued success.
The Committee Chairman also acknowledged the role of the Christian Public Service Foundation and the efforts of past chairmen, chaplains, and presiding chaplains. He recognized the importance of their contributions to the chapel’s history and growth.
He recognized the importance of the role of second Vice-Chairmen, who have ensured the chapel’s internal funding without relying solely on Government support. He expressed his appreciation for their dedication and hard work. Otunba Ayobade Obajimi concluded his speech by thanking everyone for their support and participation in the celebration.
Chief Henry Olofingorite, the 2nd Vice Chairman and Baba Ijo’ of the Chapel of Christ the Light, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the esteemed guests who graced the occasion.
He specifically thanked the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other Government officials for their support and presence. He also acknowledged the Reverends, Elders, and members of the church for their tireless efforts and dedication to the chapel’s growth and development, also appreciate the Guest Preacher Pastor Yemi Davids for filling them with words of God.
As he concluded his appreciation message, Chief Olofingorite offered a heartfelt prayer, saying: “May God bless and keep you all, and may you continue to celebrate many more years in good health, joy, and prosperity.”

Babajimi Benson member House of Representatives, Ikorodu federal constituency who was ably represented, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara member House of Representatives, Kosofe constituency who was ably represented, among other Dignitaries.
