…. Seeks to sustain reading culture among students in Ikorodu Division as the E-library facility is opened for their Learning pleasure.

The Musediq Alogba E-library and Research Center under the auspices of Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) hosted a quarterly session in promotion and advancement of reading culture for young students in Ikorodu division. Today, 28th November 2024 at the Arc. Onafowokan Main Auditorium Town Hall, Ikorodu.


Following the path towards promotion  of  an active reading habit among the prospective young students across schools in Ikorodu Division, and imbibing the ethics of active learning through accessible E-library facility made available by the IDRDG. A quarterly session was put in place, which had in attendance,  eminent personalities, Sir David Sunmoni FCA, Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the 12th Governing Council, Lagos State University, as he narrated his recommendations on involvement of Yoruba Language to be used as a medium of communication to promote cultural value and ensure  the present generations are aware of historical authors and the morals instilled in the novel and historical books, they wrote,  such as a memorable prose ” Ogboju Ode Ninu Igbo Irunmale” by the  legendary writer ” DO Fagunwa” which was read out by the Pro chancellor, Sir David Sunmoni in Yoruba language in an interactive session to the students from different schools within Ikorodu Division in attendance for considerable hours. As students from various schools also took turns to read the novel in Yoruba Language on stage to the delight of co-audience

This activity, as delivered by the Chief Guest of Honour, Sir David Sunmoni seeks to improve the reading attitude  among students and shape them towards its sustenance to enable them to be global scholars.

While also building their confidence in speaking, writing and using  Yoruba language as a value driven mode of communication which has gotten wide acceptance in States like Maryland, of the country, United States of America and Brazil. Hence an urgent appeal to the students and young ones out there not to ever forget their origin.

A tour of the E-library Facility followed immediately after the programme as the Librarian took the students round the facility and urge them to visit constantly as it is opened from Monday to Fridays of every week
