
The Igbogbo Kingdom has marked a significant milestone with the foundation laying ceremony of the Igbogbo Ultra-Modern Civic Centre, also known as the Igbogbo Town Hall. The project, which has been in the making for over 30 years, aims to bring together all arms of the community and promote brotherliness.
According to Dr. Omotunde Ogunlaja, President of the Igbogbo Development Association (IDEA), the idea of building a Civic Centre was conceived by the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, and other stakeholders. The project is expected to have a profound impact on the community, providing a hub for social, cultural, and economic activities.
The foundation laying ceremony, which took place on November 16, 2024, marked the first phase of the project. The second phase will signify the commencement of construction. A committee, inaugurated by the Adeboruwa on November 16, 2024, will oversee the construction of the Civic Centre.
The proposed Civic Centre is designed to combine aesthetic and functional values, meeting the present and future needs of the community. The project has received widespread support from stakeholders, including the Tolaram Group, which donated three acres of land for the project.
Dr. Ogunlaja expressed gratitude to all individuals and organizations that have contributed to the project’s realization. He also solicited financial and moral support from various levels of Government, corporate entities, clubs, associations, and individuals to ensure the project’s completion.
Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, described the foundation laying ceremony of the Igbogbo Ultra-Modern Town Hall as a historic milestone.
He emphasized that the project is a legacy for both present and future generations, urging every son and daughter of Igbogbo, both at home and in the diaspora, to unite in completing the project.
Builder Olusesan Daini, Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, represented by Mr. Dauda Oshinlaja appreciate the Adeboruwa-in-Council, IDEA, and other stakeholders for their tireless efforts and dedication. He urged community members to contribute generously to complete the project, ensuring the council’s support for the Igbogbo kingdom’s long-held vision ¹.
According to Mr. Nosiru Titilope Andu-Balogun, Chairman of the Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, the event was designed to bring the community together and drive meaningful development. He stated that the Igbogbo Day celebration, which has been held annually since 1988, has been a symbol of unity and progress for the community.
He expressed his gratitude to community leaders and members for their unwavering support, and acknowledged the instrumental roles played by His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Bldr Olusesan Daini, the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA; and Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration and unity, urging residents to sustain the spirit of togetherness that has defined Igbogbo Day since its inception.

Sunday, November 24, 2024: Induction into Igbogbo Hall of Fame (Season 3), Luncheon with the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, and Presentation of Awards of Excellence; Monday, November 25, 2024: Education Programs Finals, including Quiz and Debate Competitions; Tuesday, November 26, 2024: Cultural Day featuring traditional dances, games, and displays.
