
Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) in Lagos, earlier today led a delegation to Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), As part of the effort by the leadership to review the Local Governments efforts in addressing residents’ needs and ensuring good governance in all councils in Lagos State where he praised the council’s cleanliness.
Obanikoro described Ikorodu North as one of the cleanest councils in Lagos State, noting that the environment is well-maintained.
During their visit earlier today, 12th of November, Obanikoro urged the Council Chairman to continue improving the lives of residents, emphasizing that residents come first in all decision-making.
Builder Deola Banjo, Chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in his speech he commended the community’s progress, attributing it to collaborative efforts with the state Government, community leaders, and residents.
He highlighted the council’s achievements in security, including the establishment of the Police Annex in Araro Adamo, which serves as a symbol of the community’s resolve to create a safer environment. The Security Task Force has also been strengthened to protect residents and businesses from harm.
In terms of infrastructure development, Banjo noted the construction of vital roads such as Eweye Road and improvements at A Line and AM Streets. The Prince Abiodun Ogunleye Ultramodern Complex stands as a testament to the council’s commitment to providing essential services and fostering civic engagement.
– Education: Establishment of Osansolu Community Primary School and scholarship programs for indigent students ¹
– Healthcare: Renovations of Primary Health Centres, 24-hour facilities, and mechanized boreholes.
– Environmental Sustainability:_ Flood mitigation, enhanced drainage systems, and relief for natural disaster victims.
– Empowerment: Skill Acquisition Sponsorship program for women and youth, and financial support for vulnerable groups
Builder Deola Banjo expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council for their commitment to assessing and supporting the council’s efforts. He emphasized the importance of unity and collective progress, urging residents to remain steadfast in their support for the initiatives.
Under Banjo’s leadership, Ikorodu North LCDA has also facilitated transformers for many communities and enthroned a King, a feat that had been difficult for decades.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman praised Banjo as a listening chairman, highlighting the need for a befitting Marriage Registry in the Local Government.
– Fish Farmers thanked the Chairman for his support at all time, they plead for patronage on their goods as this will promote the community.
– Oba Olukayode David Raji, the Eweye of Isiwu, commended Banjo for his outstanding performance, noting that he has positively impacted every part of Ikorodu North LCDA, despite its large size and population.
Comr. Jackson Ayika, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Coordinator for Ikorodu North LCDA, commended the Council Chairman for all he has been doing for the Youths, he plead with the Chairman to advocate for youth employability and empowerment at industrial companies within the council area.
Prince Niran Ogunbanwo, Chairman of the CDC in Ikorodu North LCDA, commended the Council Chairman for his exceptional work in Ikorodu North LCDA. Ogunbanwo acknowledged the Chairman’s efforts, stating that with sufficient resources, even more impressive accomplishments would be achievable.
Hon. Abayomi Daramola, APC Vice Chairman Lagos Central, applauded Banjo for his outstanding work in Ikorodu North, urging him to expand his developmental initiatives.
Hon. Aleshinloye, also part of the delegation, in his response with the stakeholders to address their concerns. Aleshinloye assured the stakeholders that issues requiring State government attention would be promptly conveyed to the relevant authorities. Additionally, he guaranteed that the council Chairman would address local government matters appropriately.
In attendance were Hon. Kunle Ogunbela, the first Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Otunba Tijani, Chairman of APC Ikorodu Division, Otunba Fatai Sulaimon Fayas, Alhaji Jimoh Odidi, and Mrs. Toyin Salau. Additionally, members of the Legislative, Executive, and Management teams were also present.
